This antenna works very well as a VHF antenna. There is an included UHF loop, but you need a pretty old TV that has UHF screw posts to utilize it. In addition, if you are thinking of using this for an antenna input to a digital converter box, there is no way to provide the UHF antenna input to the converter. The VHF reception was excellent. I would recommend that you buy an antenna that combines the UHF antenna and then provides it to the converter as a single coaxial source.Digital camera Review: Best Antenna for the Money

Just received this antenna today and hooked it up to our Dish TR-40cra ([...]) analog to digital converter and it works fabulously! We live in a major metropolitan area and our TV is in the basement. With the converter and antenna we were able to get all of our regular stations (with no analog fuzz!) plus several other extra channels.
I previously had an expensive Radio Shack antenna hooked up to the converter box and the reception we were able to get with it was much weaker than with this antenna.

I'm too cheap for cable, so I make do with an antenna and just a few stations. I can't *believe* I suffered for a year with a different antenna before trying this one. I get sharp, clear picture quality on all of the basic stations, and that's without contorting the thing like a pretzel. (I used to balance my old one on books, off the side of the machine-- anything to make it even a tiny bit clearer.) PLUS, the price is right (I paid almost 40 bucks for the first one), and it's aesthetically very simple and sleek. I can't sing its praises enough, given that I've been putting up with blurriness, fuzz, and just plain bad image quality for so long til now.Digital camera Review: Best unit I've seen

I got these just in time for the Super Bowl and the picture was clear enough to invite friends over. This despite the fact that our local FOX affiliate is on UHF and I didn't attach the UHF loop antenna (my TV has no connection for it).
Of our 6 local channels, this antenna picks up 4 very well without any adjustments, and the other 2 come in reasonably well after adjustment. Additionally the comments about the short connection wire are significant, it really limits positioning of the unit.
I should note that I got a second set for a friend who has trouble with local reception and they didn't help him much at all.

I hardly watched TV anymore, but still wanted to watch the local news stations - my cable company's "low-ball" option was 80+ channels that I didn't even want with a price tag that kept going up.
I have a VERY old TV - but it still works - my indoor antenna gives me the three channels that I would consider watching AND no more money for the cable company.
I would definitely recommend this antenna to anyone that feels the same way about their cable company. This antenna is one of the best things I have bought for my home.
