This is just awful. The TI-83 is one of the worst devices I have ever used. It is completely useless. First of all, it's the 21st Century, okay? It still does not have a color screen (at least 256-bit LCD); it lacks wireless functionality, forcing you to use the exasperating, cheap, and short cables; it's WAY too bulky and long. Seriously, this thing looks hideous, it could've been much more compact but this is just gigantic and heavy. The screen lacks a backlight. Come on, Game Gears even had backlights. This is just so sad. Another big problem is that it has over a thousand buttons! There are just WAY too many buttons. It also lacks a nice hard drive to store more data. The power button is just a regular button on the front, causing you to accidentally turn on/off (they should have made the power button a switch on the side). The batteries are another issue; they last about 2 hours. Let's be serious here, how long have lithium-ion batteries been around? 7-10 years? It should have included a lithium-ion battery instead. The menus are just horrid; they're just unnecessarily long lists of random functions that are useless. They could have categorized the menus in a more efficient manner, and made them into scrollable icons or lists. No sound or speaker? You've got to be kidding me. They could have at least had a headphone jack on this thing. And with all of these flaws, the darn thing is overpriced like crazy! This is a DEFINITE MUST NOT BUY! Don't waste your time or your money on this ugly thing. My advice to you, go buy a Pocket PC instead (or even a PSP, DS, or a new cell phone for that matter; you get the same features but much nicer, cheaper, and efficient). In simple words, STAY AWAY FROM THE TI-83 GRAPHICS CALCULATORS!Digital camera Review: Affordable and works great!

Here are ten reasons you should consider the TI-83 Plus/TI-83 Plus Silver Edition:1. Very fast, reliable calculations
2. Menu driven, so you can go straight to the category of functions you want, and select your item
3. It's programmable, and for most applications, you can program useful algorithms and even games (games take up a lot more space than math programs however)
4. Texas Instruments is constantly adding to the number of applications you can get, some for free, some for purchase. My favorites include: Poly Solver, Probability Simulation (you can draw from a deck of cards or roll dice). Also Detached Solutions has several applications such as symbolic math (in its first stages).
5. Finance, Time-value-of-money, days-between-dates, and interest conversion given to you from the get-go.
6. Solver, solve for any variable.
7. Matrices, for linear programming.
8. Graphing, including Function, Sequential, and Polar. (Differential equations app coming soon)
9. Well written manual.
10. Recommended for: Accounting, Finance, Business, Chemistry (Periodic Table app available), Biology, Most Math Classes (for Pure Math and Engineering, a TI-89/92 Plus is recommended)

This is a fantastic calculator that I use in my algebra class and others.You can take notes on this calculator with the Ti keybord acsseorie the acsseorie comes with a program for the calculator so you can take notes on it and save them for tests. You can also store things like study cards,games,and all those other important things you need. I highly recommend this calculator to anyone with any class.GO GET THIS CALCULATOR!=)
