Digital camera Review: 52 Year Old Rates The TI 84 SPlus

I have owned the TI 82 and TI 83S Silver Plus before this. TheTI 84 is another wonderful product from Texas Instruments for the student in high School or College student. Any complaints about speed is irrelevant. I personally found the TI 84 very easy to read, fast, nice case-I like it better the TI 83 Silver case-and it included some programs that were not on the TI 83. It is supposed to have other stuff that the TI 83 did not have but I did not notice this. This is because I bought it to assist me in Algebra, trig and etc. For the money it is a great investment and a very useful tool. I will say that one area I noticed a great difference in was viewing the window. For me, (and I wear bi-focals) the TI 84 was noticeable in its clearer image and etc. Hope this is helpfu. -DaveDigital camera Review: A Good Solid Calculator

I bought this calculator for my daughter who is a freshman in high school enrolled in Algebra-II and accelerated science courses. The TI-84, along with the TI-83 and some others, are authorized for standardized exam use. We had no choice but to buy it or an equivalent. It's a calculator with limited capability, so that it can't be programmed too much like a computer where it would solve equations for you. In that sense it is technologically limited. If you had iPod or hand held computer using the Wolfram application, you could have it do factoring, integration and some series analysis on the fly, but with the TI-84 you can't do this; however, you can graph polynomials and get some idea of their use. Prior to any standardized testing, such as an AP test or a final exam, teachers or exam proctors will clear the programming on these calculators.
The difference between this TI-84 Plus Silver Edition and standard edition is the ROM/RAM: 1.5MB/24K and 480K/24K, respectively. See TI's web site:

Also, because of the case coloring, the contrast is better to read the keys - at least to someone in their mid to late 40s.

Bought this product recently based on recommendations for an advanced math/ scientific calculator. Apparently, TI has almost all the schools eating out of their hands by having classrooms make these calculators mandatory in many classes.
I will say that the calculator features a lot and you can even purchase more applications to dowload at TI's Website. However, the calculator is complicated to use, and you almost need a course to learn how to use it. Furthermore, the functionality is poorly designed and if you press a wrong button the calculator will often freeze on you.
At the high price for these TI calculators you would think that they would have gotten all the bugs out. But let me assure you they are definitely there, and you would be better served to get a Casio or HP graphing calculator instead.

This is an excellent product. I ordered it refurbished and is clean,works great and is in excellent condition. My daughter is using it for school and enjoys it.
