Digital camera Review: A lot of hype, but it quickly fizzled

Bought this product recently based on recommendations for an advanced math/ scientific calculator. Apparently, TI has almost all the schools eating out of their hands by having classrooms make these calculators mandatory in many classes.
I will say that the calculator features a lot and you can even purchase more applications to dowload at TI's Website. However, the calculator is complicated to use, and you almost need a course to learn how to use it. Furthermore, the functionality is poorly designed and if you press a wrong button the calculator will often freeze on you.
At the high price for these TI calculators you would think that they would have gotten all the bugs out. But let me assure you they are definitely there, and you would be better served to get a Casio or HP graphing calculator instead.

I bought a TI-89 about a year ago and it is one of the best school purchases I have ever made. I'm only in 10th grade right now, but so far it has worked great. However don't look at the manual for anything, but how to make some neat 3D shapes. However if you go to ti.com and go to help, they will answer any problems/questions you have in about 24 hours. Finally I just want to say that this calculator is great and it does a TON of calculations for you, but you have to make sure you don't rely on it too much. If you want to learn then you won't have a problem, but only get this calculator if you want to learn. You can use it to fly through classes without thinking. This calculator is unbelievable! It literally can do it all. thi year, I am taking algebra 2 and realized that i'd need a graphing calculator. i knew that the casio was useless in higher math, and that the hps were difficult to use. therefore, it was b/w the ti83 plus and the ti89. i chose the ti89, and i think that its the best decision i ever made. words can't express all the features this thing has (i probably don't know how to use 90% of them). the manual is very well written and chock-full of examples. this calculator is a triumph for ti. get one!Digital camera Review: All Hail The TI-89

This has to be the greatest innovation that TI has ever come up with. They have managed to cram all of the functionality and power of the TI-92 into a package that looks extremely similar to the TI-86. This calculator eliminates the need for students to take calculus (except those planning a career in mathematics). It does all of the symbolic manipulation (trig) it solves differential equations (advanced calculus) and the 3-D graphs give you something to play with. Unfortunately they have been banned for use at my college, CalTech (most likely because of these reasons). But it helped me a lot when I used it in my last semester of high school. So I had to get a TI-86 which seems archaic compared to the 89. Now if I can only figure out how to cram my 89 into the case for the 86 I will be set.
