Digital camera reviews of Texas Instruments Voyage 200 CalculatorDigital camera Review: A great product Summary: 5 Stars
The voyage 200 is the finest calculator that I have ever had. Its performance is remarkable and it is a user-friendly product. You do not have to remember in which button is the function that you need, or deal with buttons that have impressed three or more function in different colors. Just type the function and that is it. That is simple, is not it? It is also outstanding the main menu and its easy navigation. You can customize it by adding software applications from the texas instruments web page. The "Computer Algebra" application can solve equations, integrals and much more. "Organizer" mades a nice calendar to schedule activities, classes, and keep track of the important business of you life. "Notefolio" and "Cell sheet" are applications that work as interface for text and data between calculator and computer. The operative system can be downloaded to the calculator via USB cable with out problems. In conclusion, I believe that is a great product. Just be careful, so many features are not allowed in most of the standardized test and courses.
Digital camera Review: A math student's best friend Summary: 5 Stars
I teach math and computer science at the local community college, so I have the opportunity to experience the strengths and short-comings of students at all levels of ability.
For students who plan to take a series of math courses, starting with pre-Algebra and extending through Calculus III, the TI Voyage 200 is a great investment. It is feature-rich and has graphing capability, with an expanded keyboard that makes for easier use.
The Voyage also can be programmed and can download existing applications from the TI user community. This extensibility becomes more valuable as the student works his/her way up the math food-chain.
For the beginning math student to the more advanced, I heartily recommend the Voyage as an investment that will have a good return.
Digital camera Review: A true Nerd/Geek Calculator Summary: 4 Stars
Voyage 200 will not fit in a pocket and does not have a slide rule so it falls short of being the ultimate geek/nerd tool. Yet, this is likely the best graphing calculator that I have used. I have used Casio's graphing calcs since they came out. I always had my trusty HP 35s there too. Now I might be able to carry just one calculator.
The only thing I do not like is TI's documentation. It is beyond horrible. There are some wonderful sites that walk you through many of the Calculus and Graphing functions.
I would recommend this to anyone who needs to Calculus equations or other heavy duty calculations and graphing. Just have the expectation that you need to invest time to become smarter than this toy and you will be happy with it.
Digital camera Review: A word on documentation Summary: 5 Stars
Recently received my Voyage 200, and am very pleased with the unit itself. As others have commented, the lack of a decent printed manual is a drawback.
Knowing that the TI-89 Titanium is functionally almost identical to the Voyage 200, I called Texas Instruments and ordered a TI-89 manual. Customer service was very friendly, the manual was cheap ($4.95 + s/h), and it arrived quickly.
TI really should package this manual with the Voyage 200, and maybe they'll start doing it in the future. In the meantime, if you're getting a Voyage 200, just order an 89 manual from TI.
Digital camera Review: All i can say is WOW Summary: 5 Stars
Pros: Incredibly versatile. I am taking an engineering course and it makes the class a breeze even before I installed EE Pro from the website. The algebraic functions are handy for anyone that is taking a math class not to mention the geometry and trig software.
Cons: No way to expand the memory (to my knowledge) and it is a little bulky. I get teased a lot for bringing a laptop to class and once my professor asked if "that thing comes with a wireless card"
Personally I love it. For those wondering YES you can put in an equation and it will solve for "x" for you and it will solve for two variables if you want. That is on the lighter side of uses but take my word for it. You will not be disappointed and if you do not do well in your next math class with this monster then it is your fault.
