This is a great idea that saved me a lot of money! It securely holds the sensor and the Nike shoes are not required. The fit is snug and keeps the calibration exact. You don't feel it on your shoe. I've been running with the Shoe Pouch since Christmas using my asics. The Shoe Pouch keeps the Nike+ securely attached to my shoes and I've never had to re-lace it since I first installed it. I've had this shoe pouch for a few months now, and used it recently on a half marathon I did in the San Francisco Bay Area. So far it has performed well, and I have not noticed any significant difference between this method and using the Nike+ system with shoes that were built for it.
It's cheap, but constructed well - and comes in a variety of colors. It's really an easy sell for anyone that wants to link up their Nike+ (a great system in and of itself) with a non-Nike+ enabled pair of shoes. I generally workout in a pair of Asics and this little pouch works just fine.
My only gripe (and the reason why I took off one star) is the fact that it is hard to remove once laced in. For this reason I suggest you consider purchasing a pouch for each pair of shoes you will regularly run/walk in - as transferring it from pair to pair will have you frustrated in no time.
All in all, a great product at a great price. You almost can't go wrong here.

I don't run in Nike shoes, but was very interested in the Nike+Ipod system. The Shoe Pouch was my answer. I bought one for each pair of my running shoes (trail, road) and can easily swap the sensor in and out depending on what shoes I am wearing. The little velcro straps make it very easy to slip the sensor in and out, and holds it very securely. They are light as a feather, so no worries about adding extra weight or bulk. A perfect answer to the Nike+Ipod Sports system, whether or not you have Nike shoes. I hear they will soon be available in cool colors....Digital camera Review: Great product

I just recently got an ipod nano just so I could use the nike + ipod system with it, but I also just bought a pair of new running shoes, and they're not the Nike + kind. I figured I'd wait a year or so until I needed new shoes and then get the Nike + ones, but then I found out about this. I ordered it and it arrived really quickly, and the company was really great about communicating with me about the status of my order.
I laced it onto my shoes right away and went to a track to calibrate the Nike + sensor. Then I ran a route that I already know the distance of, and it was very accurate. Since then, I've gone running on some trails with mile markers and the sensor has been completely accurate so far.
I also bought the armband made by the same company and it's wonderful as well.
Overall, this is a wonderful product and I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to buy the Nike + shoes but still wants to use the product.
