Digital camera Review: BEST DVR ON THE MARKET !!!!!!!! from an 8-Year Tivo Customer
Summary: 5 Stars

I had a Series 1 Tivo for about 8 years, I was very happy with it. Since I recently got a Sony Bravia HDTV, I switched to this HD Tivo. Here is why I am very happy:

-Amazon delivered it in only 3 calendar days even though I used Free Super saver shipping.

-I love the hardware of this Tivo, it looks sophisticated, it has lots of input and output options. Has component and HDMI for HD. The remote signal is strong. You can connect by Telephone line or Etnernet.

-I got the lifetime subscription, this is one of the best things about Tivo. Even though the price is higher up front, after a few months the service is free. Unlike cable or sateillte DVR's where you keep paying monthly fees each month. So with cable and sateillte DVR's, it actually costs much more in the long term.

-This Tivo also has a lot online options like watching movies via Netflix, Amazon.com, etc.

-Another thing great about this Tivo compared to the Series 1 is that the picture quality is same as watching directly from antenna or cable. With my previous Tivo, the picture quality was slightly worse. But with this HD Tivo, you can't tell the difference. Since HD is digital, I guess there is no loss in picture quality.

-I also love the Dual Tuner, I can record two programs at the same time. Also I don't have to worry about programs overlapping unless you happen to record 3 different programs at the same time!

-I can also program the Tivo to record remotely from outside the home via the internet. You can do this from Tivo.com, Yahoo.com or others. You can program 5 minutes before the show begins.

There is a reason why Tivo owners are so loyal to Tivo, also why the satisfaction rate is so high for Tivo. Tivo is the original DVR on the market, it has the best overall value, user interface and service. I recommend HD Tivo to anyone who has HDTV!!!

Digital camera Review: BUY TIVO HD! Then, cancel your cable TV!
Summary: 5 Stars

TIVO HD is amazing! I am new to TIVO and now have 3 HD units. The picture was so wonderful through TIVO HD with only an antenna that I chose to cancel my cable TV. Yes, I know I will miss ESPN and all of the other cable TV channels that I watch like..... well, I guess that's the only cable channel I ever watched! So I asked myself, why pay over $100/month for cable TV?

I you live near a major metro area (I am 19 miles from the Philly antennas) and you are thinking about ditching cable but you are worried about picture quality - GO FOR IT! You won't regret it! And you can spend the $1200 a year you save on cable bills on DVD's of all those old sitcoms that you may miss without cable, or even buy newer shows on Amazon Unbox.

Hook-up was a snap. I was worried about placing an antenna on the roof, so I didn't. Instead, I bought 3 antennas (see the product link) and put them behind the TV. The antennas are not too big and very lightweight. They are about the size of an open textbook. Since the antenna is inexpensive, I would recommend purchasing as many as you need (why risk falling off the roof?).

Digital camera Review: Bad Buy
Summary: 1 Stars

Buying this item was a mistake. After purchasing and upon installing DirectTV, I was advised that the unit was not compatible with DirectTV and it would not work: supposedly the TiVo unit requires access cards for Cable/Satellite services. No cards were available from DirectTV. The installer (a sub contractor) advised (without trying to sell DirectTV equipment) that he could not install TiVo and make it work. Also, he advised TiVo was about 3 years out-of-date with the state of the art. I then purchased the DirectTV unit and I am quite satisfied. Amazon accepted my return for refund with no arguements.

Digital camera Review: Bad Customer Service
Summary: 1 Stars

I have this box and it die in less than 2 years. I purchased the lifetime service for more than $200 dollars.. so it is like I paid more than monthly fee!!!! So it sucks that the lifetime subscription couldn't transfer to another box... I talked to customer service and they are very very lack of knowledge.. I can tell that they were reading the booklet like "how to deal with Customer for dummy" .... sucks!!! I gave up after this one die and I won't use Tivo anymore.. very very bad.. there're tons of cheaper DVR out there~~

Digital camera Review: Beats the Cable DVR... and can actually save you money
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been a longtime fan of Tivo, so when I saw my parents constantly struggling to program their Comcast DVR, I bought them this Tivo for their anniversary. They were skeptical, but after just a few weeks they can't believe how easy the Tivo is to use -- even for people who don't always understand new technology.

What people don't realize is that Tivo doesn't have to cost much more than your cable DVR. Typically your cable company charges about $15 for a high-def cable box. But with Tivo, you can get rid of the cable box and use two cable cards, which only cost about $2 each ($4 total). So you save about $11 a month in cable fees, which you can put toward the Tivo fees and box. If you get a 3 year pre-paid Tivo service, you only pay about $8 a month. So you actually save $3 a month in fees. Sure, there is an upfront cost to Tivo, but the features simply can't be beat:

-- Incredibly easy user interface that makes recording programs simple.
-- The best onscreen TV guide anywhere
-- Ability to schedule recordings online (from work or vacation)
-- Ability to download tv shows to your laptop (great for watching on planes)
