the display is transparent with black lcd lettering & can only be seen from certain angles against a white background. I have a black desk, and the certain angles don't include angles I can see it from when sitting at my desk. I can just barely read it when sitting comfortably if I put it on a white piece of paper.Digital camera Review: Save your money

Purchased primarily for the hygrometer, but it doesn't come close to reading the humidity accurately and is always off by at least 30%-50%. It will display a percentage if you breath hard into it, otherwise it's always displaying "lo%" when the actual room humidity is around 45%. The time and temperature are accurate, but impossible to see at night without a backlight. I highly recommend the Honeywell TM005X instead of this item if you're looking for an accurate hygrometer. We purchased this to help us have a better idea of the humidity level in our daughters room and it is a great item. However, we must have overlooked that it is see-through, which means it can be difficult to read at night when we're peaking in at her. Not a big deal, the size is perfect and it looks sleek. The relative humidy doesn't read as a percentage like pictured.
(It uses symbols for dry, comfortable & humid.)
It's hard to read because of it's small size AND the LED screen
is transparent and needs a light background to see it well.
Basically this unit would be okay to receive for opening a
checking account...
