Digital camera reviews of Tivoli Model Satellite Table Radio (Sirius Satellite Radio / AM / FM )Digital camera Review: Cancel Sirius: a mere 1+ hour process! Summary: 1 Stars
Be aware that Sirius makes it VERY time consuming to cancel your account. XM, so I am told, makes it much easier. Rhapsody is much better if you don't need a radio but can listen via the computer.
No big deal except that you need to explicitly cancel your account or Sirius renews it over and over again. Your service never stops until you tell them to stop it. In person. On the phone.
I'm writing this while on hold at Sirius. It's up to the 40 minute mark and I still haven't succeed in talking to someone who is authorized to cancel my account!
One fellow said I needed to call back later to cancel (after I've waited 30 minutes) but after my expressing dismay he agreed that he could transfer me to someone else who could cancel my account.
Waiting on hold...waiting...waiting...
Well we're up to the 50 minute mark and still nothing. I'm still on hold for the (one!?) person who can authorize cancelling an account.
Oh now I'm told that I might have to wait for a while longer to get to the right person. So I've asked to be transferred to a supervisor...
Ten minutes later I'm still on hold for the Supervisor...
Finally the original guy comes back on and says they're working on cancelling my account. BUT I can't hang up because for some reason they need me to be on hold as they cancel my account.
70 minutes and still on hold...
FINALLY by magic it appears my account has been cancelled.
One hour and 10 minutes to cancel my account with Sirius.
Sigh.........
Digital camera Review: Excellent sound, and a handsome unit. Summary: 5 Stars
My wife and I just got Sirius and we were pleased that we did not have to settle for a boombox type of unit for our home. This Kloss Tivoli unit is stunning to look at, and the sound is absolutely wonderful.
I highly recommend this unit to one and all. It does not get any better. We actually paired it with a unit so that my wife can listen to her oldies, but goodies in her nightly "spa"..(aka bubble bath..lol) with a wireless speaker system that is splashproof purchased at Sharper Imagine.
Digital camera Review: FM Use only - Thrilled Summary: 5 Stars
Picked this up because for some reason it was $90 while the FM only radio was 3 times as much. What a steal! It plays FM too, with great reception and excellent fidelity. Great value if you can find it for $90 again.
Digital camera Review: Finally a high quality integrated tabletop satellite radio Summary: 5 Stars
Although this was the only quality integrated satellite table radio on the market when I was looking to buy this summer, I held back from this bargain-priced out-of-production Tivoli for two reasons. First, Sirius and Tivoli instruct you that the cheap antenna that comes with it must be set on the window sill of a Western facing windows (in the area that I live) and I had only southern and eastern facing windows. When Sirius successfully launched its first geo-stationary satellite this summer, I gambled that my southern window would now work. Success. I not only get perfect reception, but I can get it with the antenna sitting on top of the radio pointed at my southern window 5 feet away.
My second problem was the inadequate 20 minute only sleep timer. I solved this by purchasing the inexpensive Intermatic TB121C timer offered here on Amazon. The timer plugs into the wall socket, the radio plugs into the timer, and the easy-to-set timer control is on a cable that I set right next to the radio on my night table where I can easily set it when to shut the radio off. Not a perfect solution because when you wake up and look at the radio to see the time, you have to press the power button on the radio or remote to get the time to display. But I have little problem with it.
The radio itself offers great sound for its size. The display is impressive. It autosizes the text so that it is completely visible in the display as large as possible. If the title or artist is too long to fit, the display automatically scrolls it. I was also impressed by the built-in FM antenna, although I no longer listen to FM. Perhaps Tivoli will start up production again.
Digital camera Review: Got the short end of the stick Summary: 3 Stars
I was disappointed at this Tivoli table top Satellite FM/AM radio I purchased recently. None of the 20 preset memories are available for any AM or FM band stations to be stored. It could have been a much better and more useful radio if Tivoli or whoever designed the radio for them would have chosen to avail some of the twenty presets reserved for the two other bands - not just the satellite band. Also a better contrast color paint markers and some treble/bass control mechanism and bigger than tiny buttons would have made the radio much more competitive on the market especially for those of us who are interesyted only for home use and who may not exactly have teen ager eye sight.
Still looking for the ideal radio!
