.though in EIRE it sent me round the bend! I have been using the 3rd edition for a couple of years I guess and whilst using it in the US it has been brilliant. Fast to recalculate and I love the constantly improving list of POI's. Also, what could be better than having Eddie Izzard calling you a fool :) I bought the EIRE map and took it with us on our trip and the damn thing was rubbish at giving accurate directions. IN the end I switched it off. I know there has been a lot of road building there but we spent most of your time on the back roads and would still be digging the hire car out of ditches if we had paid attention to the TT. That small glitch aside I would recommend you buy this product and if you go to EIRE just rent a care with a GPS included (and hope it isn't a TT).Digital camera Review: Almost worth the $100

I bought this to blow off a gift card to a crappy store. They had it on sale for $99 and its the only thing I could find that sparked my interest. So I expected it to be cheap, slow and non responsive. I opened it up and found the opposite. It picked up a GPS fix in 2 minutes and I could navigate and browse through the device nicely. So for a couple days I thought it was a awesome deal. But then I noticed a few streets were missing that should have been added to any map over 2 years ago. I thought no big deal I just need to plug it in the computer and let it receive some updates. I plugged it in and installed the software and got a few software updates. Then a message popped up and said " your maps are out of date! Download new updated maps of your area for only $79.99." Most other brands offer first time update for free and then after that is a one time fee for the life of the unit. Now with my TomTom I know I can almost get there. So if your one of those people who don't mind pulling out the credit card for stupid occasional fee's like this then it is a great unit.Digital camera Review: Annoying voice directions

This is OK to use until you can afford a smartphone with the Android operating system and Google navigation.
When you are traveling on your route it tells you to make a turn when you are on a road that continues as the same road, but changes name at a curve. When you are going down a expressway it tell you to get in the left lane if you are not exiting at each exit. It should just remain silent or say stay on current road or something. Why would I want to get in the left lane if I don't want to race anyone?
Anyway now that I have an HTC EVO this is left in the glove box.

I just recently purchased the tomtom one 3rd edition. I purchased this
shortly after I had visited somebody who had an earlier edition of the tomtom device and I was so impressed with it. This thing is awesome!
Really well done and easy to use. It makes getting lost in your vehicle virtually impossible. I bought this in time to make a long road trip from Miami FL to Memphis TN, and I can say this tomtom GPS saved me a world of grief on the long road trip and just made the trip so much simpler, smoother and safer. Its all touch screen,, and the setup menus are really well done and easy to get familiar with. This is well worth the money... as I see it, the $$$ cost of this thing pays for itself in keeping me from getting lost. When you get lost you waste time and gas and not to mention the agrivation you go through... as well getting lost in the wrong area can at times be a safty concern. When you have this tomtom one and you learn how to use it.. you will just get exactly to where you need to go. Turn buy turn it just gets you there.. and it does it very well. It also has a lot of cool things... such as you can use it to find you Points if interest near you or near any location you desire. This can be really helpful if you are traveling out of your neck of the woods and you need to find a hotel, or restaraunt, shopping etc.
really great device.. and you can get it hooked up to a PC and update the maps and download other ad-ons and its very simple to do.

I got my TomTom ONE a couple weeks ago, and every time I use it, I just love it. I love the added features, like the 'Where Am I' and 'Points of Interest'. It is very easy to understand and use. Definitely recommend it for the price that it is. Awesome little thing that fits in my purse and gets me from point A to point B without much hassle. The only problem I have encountered is mounting it. The sticky disk doesn't want to stay on my dash, and the suction cup doesn't like my front window. So I have my co-pilot hold it, or set it in my lap while I drive.
