Digital camera Review: An excellent low-cost GPS solution.

After spending a couple months wrestling with, and researching, Global Positioning System devices, I finally settled on the Tom Tom One just before a trip from Washington, DC to Detroit, MI. The device performed beautifully throughout the trip, and has since made navigating the Washington, DC area much more enjoyable.
Do be aware that the device will find the fastest navigation route - even through it may take you someplace unexpected. For instance, while traversing Ohio (we stayed overnight in the Columbus area), the device took us north via some back roads I otherwise would not have known existed. Including one that wasn't paved. Not surprisingly, this saved us quite a bit of time.
Mounting options exist beyond the window mount, though you'll probably need to order them from the company. Details can be found in the brochures accompanying the device, or at the Tom Tom web site.
It's also worth visiting the web site using the included software, to ensure that you have the most up-to-date software, and any maps beyond Canada and the U.S. you might need. Frankly, I haven't seen the necessity given that I use the device solely in the area provided off the shelf.

Before buying this GPS I looked at all the competition. I chose this one due to the size (its thinner than most of the others), its general look and of course the price.
I have now owned it for about 6 months and I'm still over the moon with it. It has always got me from A to B, usually quicker than the way I knew. I have also taken it all over the US and it has proved invaluable. It's so small I can slip it in a pocket and place it in hire cars.
The website enables you to download a number of features for free. I downloaded extra voices and a color scheme that was designed to match the night-time interior of my VW.
This GPS has more features than the others I looked at and at a cheaper price. I would have liked the bluetooth feature to work as a hands-free speaker and microphone for my phone. However you get what you pay for and the next model up offers this. For the price I can't complain.

The satellite connection is awesome on the One, and the calculation time that it takes is only seconds. Once you update the maps, you can see all the restaurants, theaters, gas stations, and anything you might need to go to. The One is light and thin, opposite of most other GPS systems, which are thick and clunky, and it needs no external antenna unless youre really deep in the woods.Digital camera Review: Awsome little product!! I ordered the TomTom One on Thursday afternoon via standard shipping and recieved the item the very next day! Wow! I found the TomTom to be fully functional right out of the box and still have yet to need to read the instructions since the interface is so incredibly easy to navigate. Downloading updates and features such as new voices could not have been easier. I downloaded the location of all Dunkin Donuts locations nationwide and anyone from New England will appreciate that little feature. There may be additional bells and whistles that the more expensive GPS units offer but I can't thkink of any that are lacking on this unit. It will get you from point A to point B very easily. What more can you ask for?
