Digital camera Review: Cool little device
Summary: 5 Stars
This is a nice product. Quality build much like and apple product. Finds the directions needed quickly and reroutes fast. Touchscreen takes about 5 minutes to get the hang of and works with your fingernail tapping the screen and there is no need to get your finger tip placed directly on it.
Nice bright screen too. At first I thought the 3.5 inch screen might be too small...nope it is is just fine and the graphics are slick. Well worth the $200+ bucks. My wife made fun of me and said " yep looks like a silly gadget only you would like". She likes the thing more than I do. She has no directional compass in her brain and cold get lost in a closet.
The stupidest things I have heard about this product while reading other reviews -
It doesn't say the name of the street you need to turn on.
My comment to that would be - GOOD! It states clearly at the bottom of the screen in crisp text the name of the next turn you need to take and the distance until that turn. Plus you don't really want to hear some computerized voice butcher the name so bad it may confuse you and you wouldn't understand anyway. Good Job Tom Tom. Nice omit.
This may be a bad thing for people who cannot read but are allowed to get drivers licenses anyway.
Another thing that I found really really dumb. Someone said it takes up to 60 seconds for it to find a route across the country and that was just too damn long. (it takes about 2 seconds literally to find a local route) Seriously, if you are about to take a 4 day drive across the country and cannot wait 60 seconds to get the route then perhaps behind the wheel of a one and a half ton steel structure that travels at high velocity is just not the place for you. That's just my opinion I could be wrong.
Buy this gadget. It's simplicity is wonderful and practical.

Took on recenty company trip in new jersey from Maryland over the weekend and I still have no clue where I was or how I got there. All I know is the TomTom got me there. On the way home I missed my exit twice and within seconds it rerouted me and I got home.
Also I wanted to stop at starbucks and a trainstation into new york, I asked the tomtom(hit the buttons) and it found me both, as geico says "So easy a cave man can do it"

I gave this to my husband for a birthday present this past summer. I can't imagine how we ever traveled without it. I'm a avid map reader and excellent navigator, so I never saw the need for a GPS. I'm sold! We love to try out new routes around the busy traffic in Atlanta. I love being able to have an ETA. It's a fabulous product and a great price. My husband downloaded John Cleese's voice for the TomTom. It's so much more fun to hear him give directions than the factory voice.Digital camera Review: DISAPPOINTED

After my buddy drove by with his new Garmin streetpilot i5 I knew I just had to have a GPS too. So after reading all the reviews and pros opinions in my price range I choose the Tomtom one. After only 5 day of use this unit located my home on a differnt street. Miss my mother's home by a half mile. Located my daugther's house two streets east of where she lives. It has only been right on about 40 percent of the time. It is very easy to use but what good is that if it doesn't take to the location you want to go. Can I trust this unit in a city that is new to me to get me to the right location? I did check with Tomtom and I do have the newest map. I bought the TomTom ONE Portable GPS. It's the best thing since sliced bread. It is awesome. I won't leave home without it ever again. I get lost going around the corner but not anymore. Not since I have my GPS. I made an 8 hour car trip to TN and I drove by myself and my GPS. I had the most stress free drive ever. Knowing if I made a wrong turn my GPS would get me back on track. I arrived at my destination relaxed, happy and safe. I have a new sense of freedom now. I can go anywhere I want and I don't have to depend on anyone because I have my GPS.Joan
