Digital camera Review: After 3 months it quit working

I bought this drive because I needed more room than my simple drive 320gb, that had just burned out. After using the freezer trick to recover my simple drive, I copied all my files to the Toshiba drive. I loved it. Most people do not like the automatic shutoff, but its perfect for a backup drive so you won't leave it on and it won't burn out. Or so I thought. After only three months the drive started beeping and clicking and was inaccessible. I took it to Best Buy and they said they could not recover that data, but would exchange it for a new one. I contacted Toshiba and was passed off to SEVEN different 800 numbers. I emailed THREE different departments and received NO RESPONSE AT ALL. I have lost my entire music, movie, and photo collection and well as all the papers I typed in college and high school. Do I now need a backup for my backup? Ridiculous! After three months! I have always had good luck with Toshiba products, but this was really disappointing. I think the bottom line is that they made a defective product, they know it, and they refuse to back it up or even discuss it.

Our dual connectivity design lets you choose between the USB interface or the faster eSATA interface for your data transfer needs. A built-in On/Off switch allows you to power down your drive when not in use to save energy. The slim design and small footprint help save your desktop space both at work and at home. The Backup software lets you back up your entire system (including attached storage devices) or specific file types (e.g. music files) on any internal or external drive attached to your system. The powerful Restore feature allows you to quickly restore files from any point in the backup history. You can even restore files based on selected criteria, such as name, date, and file extension. Bi-directional synchronization helps keep files on two sync targets up-to-date, no matter which target has been modified. For added convenience, you can schedule your backup and sync tasks to automatically run at your desired day and time.
