I was a bit hesitant after reading other reviews mentioning how hard it was to hear this. However, I have NO trouble whatsoever hearing it in my kitchen and I've never even had it to maximum volume. The sound is a bit "tinny" but I'm watching TV, not listening to a concert.
I love that it takes up so much less room and allowed me to move my DVD player out of the kitchen.

The size is just great. Perfect for my office. But...picture isn't really sharp. Have checked out cable connection...even put a splitter in when VCR "taped" pictures were faded looking as well(it didn't help), but still don't have a sharp picture and still have very faded recorded ones. I purchased this Toshiba tv/dvd combo because I needed a very small television for my home office. It's the perfect size but I wish the height was greater. It sits too low on my desk so I have it sitting on an empty sotware box. (Tacky, tacky) However, my real issue is with the quality. It started making loud noises and clicking sounds weeks, ago. Additionally, the reception is terrible. I can't pick up even one channel without the cable being connected to it.
I would think twice before purchasing this item even though I only paid about $129.00.
I expect it to quit working real soon.
Digital camera Review: Does everything I expected.

We have a very cool fiberglass replica of a gas pump/TV enclosure in our eclectic Diner Style kitchen. The CRT type 13" TV we had placed in it was on its last lap. Problems were cropping up almost monthly--mostly picture related.
The opening for the TV screen is only 16" diag. I was non-plussed when I discovered there just were no acceptable CRT TV's available for replacement. I stumbled across this TV on Amazon and ordered it. I paid extra for the shipping because I wanted to limit the abuse the package would take over a multi-location shipment. The price of this TV was less than the TV it was replacing.
The Picture is great (but not as bright as the CRT); the tuner is exceptional (long story--I have cable; the CRT had major interference because of the way it was hooked up--This TV corrected all of those problems).
The sound is tinny; but I had an old Advent computer sound system that I hooked up to the headphone jack on the back of the unit. This TV Rocks with an add on sound system; it just has to hook up to the headphone outlet.
The tuner is strong (for cable) as mentioned above, but there is a noticeable time delay when you are changing channels. That is something I can live with.
All in all, I am perfectly satisfied with this TV.
PS. Haven't tried the DVD player; probably never will in the kitchen:).
