Digital camera reviews of Toshiba 320 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive HDDR320E03XDigital camera Review: Awesome! Summary: 5 Stars
I love this little hard drive! It's USB powered, so it only needs one cord (the one it comes with is kind of short, but if you have to plug it in to an archaic desktop with the ports on the back only, you can use a cord from something else). It doesn't autoplay the backup software, which I love, because the one at my office makes me go through the same lame process every time I power it up. I wasn't prepared for how tiny it is! It's only a little wider than an iPod touch, and a little thicker. I was looking at off-brands, but was so glad to find a Toshiba for such a great price!!
Digital camera Review: Awesome, handy and trouble free Summary: 5 Stars
I mainly bought this product to use during my travels. And, it's awesome, easy to use and travels well. I had no issue and would recommend it.
Digital camera Review: Bang for the buck Summary: 4 Stars
Sleek look, light, easy to use, decent speed, quite, no problems so far. The only thing that bothered me a little is the USB cable which gets pulled easily from the HDD side. Everything else is satisfactory, I am happy with it and I recommend this product.
Digital camera Review: Beatiful but crappy Summary: 5 Stars
IMPORTANT UPDATE: DRIVER HAS FAILED, READ THE END OF THE REVIEW BEFORE (Amazon doesn't allow me to change from five to zero stars)
I purchased this external HD mainly for backups of my HP laptop and my wife's Mackbook. The main reason for choosing this model was that it is one of the few units that can startup without a 2-1 USB cable for extra energy. Macbooks strictly follows the 500mA current limit standard for USB ports so a lot of external drives that are powered directly from the USB cannot spin up without using two USB ports. This model works flawless with only one standard USB port.
Pros:
- No external power adapter (powered by the USB port);
- Small form factor;
- Light weight (light like an iPod);
- Beautiful design;
Cons:
- None so far, worked fine since I bought it one month ago;
Update: And then, after six more months... I can't turn it on again, just the blue led lighten and a clicking noise, no spin up, not recognized by the Windows, nothing. At least mine lasted longer, as other people reports it failing in 2 or 3 months. Toshiba? Never more, I will go back to Seagate.
Digital camera Review: Best External Hard Drive Summary: 5 Stars
I bought 2 of these, one to store all my pictures and data, one as a back-up. The harddrive runs cool to the touch, not even noticably warm. Performs flawlessly. Powered off a single USB port on my
HP laptop. Very fast transfers. I am completely happy with the product.
