Digital camera Review: Drive okay but horrible cable
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought two of these, one for my main files and one as a backup. I use these with a laptop. I have had them for several months and have had no problems with the drives themselves.

However, both cables have died. One died after just a few days of use. The second one finally died after about 6 months use. The drive has a recessed jack so it is hard to find replacement cables. I have bought or tried many cables but find that they often fall out every few minutes which is quite annoying.

I finally found some cables with a tapered end that look like they will fit into the recessed area and am hopeful this will resolve this issue. If you buy this drive I would suggest investing in some cables right away too.

Digital camera Review: Easy to use, reliable
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been using this for only a few months, but I travel with it frequently, and I've dropped it twice; and still have had no problems at all. I use it with a MacBook and an "old" (~2001) Toshiba laptop with no compatibility issues. I find the speed acceptable, the price was right, and the convenience great.

A note for non-laptop users: the USB cord included with this harddrive is very short (very 6 inches?). This is fantastic on a desk with my laptop and my USB drives right there, but if you have to reach in back of your computer to plug things in, you might want a longer cord. It uses the standard USB cable that seems to come with about 95% of my computer electronics, so you probably already have one.

Digital camera Review: Excellent backup drive
Summary: 5 Stars

No faults with this nice USB drive. The resident software loaded quickly and flawlessly. Easy to use with the scheduled backups.

Once installed it's one of those rare devices you can essentially forget about. The only down is the provided USB cable should be a bit longer.

Digital camera Review: Excellent drive, great price, short cable
Summary: 4 Stars

This drive performs exactly as advertised. The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is that the cable it comes with is 1 foot (.3m) long, which is too short for my needs. Lucky for me, it's a standard mini USB, so I was able to swap it with the recharge cable for my bluetooth mouse, and it works fine.

The drive is also a bit sensitive when it comes to motion, but this is a good thing. It must lay flat to operate, if it is tipped on its side, it stops.

I am using mine as a Time Machine backup drive with Mac OS 10.5.5, so I did not try the included software. It works great with Time Machine, and transfer speeds seem adequate for my needs. The formatted capacity is 297.7 GB, so if this size suits your needs, I would recommend this drive, as long as you can deal with or replace the included cable.

Digital camera Review: Excellente!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

A Good Product, because it's a fundamental tool for my job.
