This is an easy item to use, my husband is usually illiterate when it comes to dvd's burning or playing but it was a snap to use, all of our 8mm and vhs family movies are safely on dvd and can be played on any pc, dvd player or laptop in the house. Purchased for playback VCR and DVD and not for recording.
Upconverter only with DVD. The HDMI is convienient and together they provide much better video than the VCR. Not the same quality as HD stations but ok until bluray prices drop.
VCR plays only through RCA jacks. Cables provided. Usable feature and we have lots of tapes. Purchase the HDMI cable separately. Need one for the cable box and one for the Toshiba. For recording need the S cable and L/R RCA for sound from cable box to recorder.
