Digital camera reviews of Toshiba DVR620 DVD/VHS Recorder, BlackDigital camera Review: But for using other remotes Summary: 4 Stars
Happy so far. Played and ejected tapes and DVDs fine, quality was good (I'm no videophile). Setup was super easy. I thought I saw REGZA somewhere when researching this device--it certainly doesn't appear to be and the remote on my Toshiba REGZA tv doesn't seem work with it. There are a ton of codes but none of them seem to work. Same for my Dish remote. Still none of these would be good for dubbing anyway.
Digital camera Review: CD not reading disk after less than 5 hrs use. Summary: 1 Stars
Bought this unit to convert some of my favorite shows I have on VCR to DVD.. well it worked fine for the first dubbing session... after dinner I tried another and 3/4 of the way through I get this error... " cannot read disk ". I thought ok, maybe a bad blank DVD. So I tried 3 more blank and no soap...CD burner part seems to have kicked the bucket... and I didnt even get to finish dubbing my 2nd tape.
Going back to where I got it and might try another just for kicks... seems some people have had good luck with it, but I have my doubts that the second one will be any better.
Digital camera Review: Can't Use It Summary: 1 Stars
This item does not record directly from the cable system, and does not have a channel tuner. It records only from the TV and will not work for my purposes. My TV is an early model that got most channels through the recorder that I previously used. Without the recorder channel tuning capability the TV only picks up 12 channels. This recorder will pick up only those 12 channels, and we must be watching the channel that it is recording from.
Do not make the mistake of assuming that all recorders have their own built in tuners.
Digital camera Review: Copying VHS to DVD works great Summary: 4 Stars
I have stacks of VHS tapes and this recorder effectively copies them to a DVD. The initial operation required reading and re-reading the instructions and reviewing them again when the recorder was not used for a while. It does exactly what I needed and the quality of the DVD is excellent. More than one tape or parts of a a VHS tape can be burned to the DVD until the DVD is full. I then copy the DVD to my computer and used video editing software to create a movie.
Digital camera Review: Copying old vhs tapes Summary: 4 Stars
I wanted to make copies of of some very old vhs cassette tapes. Once I figured out the right setting on the sattelite tv the recording on the dvd went smoothly. I have not figured out how to add a second tape to the much available space left on the dvd.
