Digital camera reviews of Toshiba DVR620 DVD/VHS Recorder, Black

Digital camera Review: Easy convert VHS to DVD
Summary: 4 Stars

Great way to copy your old VHS tapes to DVD. Very easy, just a few clicks. It has a nice feature which can automatically add chapters at fixed times (every 5 to 60 minutes) to make it easier for you skip to different parts of the DVD. I was able to convert two dozen VHS tapes in just a few days. The unit shows the time of the VHS tape so you can see where you are; it's also useful to measure how much time is on the VHS tape so you can decide if it will fit into the DVD. It can also automatically close the DVD once the data on the tape is finished (it goes 3 minutes beyond the last recorded entry to make sure its done), but I would rather close it myself incase I want to add titles to the DVD. Adding a title to the DVD is slow entry since you have to pick a letter at a time. This unit can also play MP3, and it has programming features but I have not tried this feature yet. Overall this is a nice machine and can save you a lot of money compared to having the VHS tapes professionally copied to DVD.

Digital camera Review: Easy to use but...
Summary: 4 Stars

If it weren't for the review posted By G. B. Packert "poetry reader" (Lynchburg, VA USA), I wouldn't have been able to do this as easily as I did. His instructions are so much easier to follow than the book that was provided! If you do exactly what he said, this is VERY easy to burn DVDs from VHS. Otherwise, the instruction book that comes with it is very convoluted and does not flow well enough for the average person to follow. It really is a simple process but the book makes it seem so much harder. Because of that post, I am happily burning my DVDs from 19 year old VHS tapes!

Digital camera Review: Enjoying Toshiba's Combo DVR620 DVD/VHS Recorder
Summary: 4 Stars

I am enjoying having the combination and not having 2 to 3 boxes. It is nice and sleek and the movies show well on screen. I had my doubts but, it was easy to connect to my screen tv and I did make sure
that I ordered hdmi cables to ensure a successful connection. If you are thinking about a combo then
this is a good choice.

Digital camera Review: Excellent DVD/VHS Player-Recorder
Summary: 5 Stars

This unit provided EXACTLY what I was looking for to replace my old VHS VCR. I have retained the capability to play VHS tapes that I don't want to throw out; plus I can convert others that aren't copy protected to DVD. The hook-up was a bit involved, since I also still own a Laser Disc player and was adding this unit to my "integrated system." However, once all the wires were in place and I had spent some time with the user's manual, I was playing, recording, and dubbing to and from tapes and DVDs like a pro. I couldn't be more pleased. Highly recommended.

Digital camera Review: Excellent Purchase For VHS to DVD Conversion
Summary: 5 Stars

Over the past 5 years, I have been looking into solutions for converting about 60 VHS tapes to DVD. All of these VHS tapes contain video footage of my family when I was 20 years younger and I have been worrying about how long these tapes would last. After some research, I decided that I needed an easy way to convert these videos even though I would be giving up some extra features. My only goal at this time... get these videos digitized.

After reading the reviews of the Toshiba DVR620 DVD/VHS Recorder, Black, I was a little uncertain if this was the right product, but made the purchase anyway. Since the purchase 1 month ago, I have converted 59 of the 60 VHS tapes to DVD. The Toshiba has worked like a champion! The one tape that failed to convert to DVD was due to the film actually coming off one side of the cassette. I will have to open it up and tape it back on and then try again.

As for some of the complaints I have read, I also think that having an eject button for the VHS tape on the machine would be nice. I will be extra careful not to lose the remote otherwise the machine will probably become useless and any tape left inside the machine will be stuck.

Overall, I couldn't be happier with its performance.
