I've had my A3 Player for about a week now and am very psyched on it! The first movie I put in was "300" and my six/seven year old receiver lit up with a Blue Light I'd never seen before. And then the sound kicked in...Holy Cow!
After giving up on trying to set up my player's ethernet connection, which I can only blame my own insufficient tech knowledge, I burned a Disc according to the instructions from a DVD Forum only to find out my player came with the necessary Firmware Upgrade. Awesome!
The Hunny Bunny and I have watched a bunch of different Discs, Standard and High Def with no problems whatsoever. Until we put in the new Blade Runner Final Cut (from the five disc Brief Case set.) There was a loud rattling noise from the player as if it never fully loaded up that, though it softened a bit, continued 'til we finally turned it off. I think I'll return this to Amazon for the High Def Version so no tears lost there but I was just wondering if anyone else has run into this problem and if there's something short of returning the movie that can be done about it. On a side note, by the time I finally decided to purchase this player they had stopped the offer of Three Free Discs that you pick out during purchase. Then I saw the same offer when you clicked on individual movies so I wrote Amazon and they totally hooked it up. Just so you know...Again, we're totally stoked with this player and it really was a breeze to set up! Forbidden Planet in High Def is unbelievable!

I have had this player for a week and it is WOW!!! I just bought Transformers and Polar Express and I was Blown away...I also have watched the Mummy on a regular dvd and it upconverted it to 1080i and it looked just as good as the other 2 movies....Its a steal!!Digital camera Review: Bad error handling

I got the $160 price, but I am not off to a good start. The Ethernet setup did not work. The documentation is poor. It does not say what should happen or what to do if it does not work. Because of that I have not updated the firmware yet. The first and only HD-DVD I have played had defects toward the end. I got an error message with a meaningless number. When I hit play (seems to be the only choice) it kicks me back to the beginning of the movie with even telling me where I was. I will download the firmware upgrade and see if it fixes this obnoxious behavior.
