Digital camera Review: Beware this unit - again

I bought this item back in November. This unit has always been weird. It takes a good 30-45 seconds to start and it is super sensitive to dust or other defects on DVDs. In fact, DVDs that I have played for years are suddenly "bad." On top of all this, today I found that it will power on and say "Welcome" on the front but freezes there. It sits on this stage perpetually. I exchanged it at BB (where I bought it) and managed to get another one with the same problem. Once I configured the network it died. Maybe I entered something on the network settings wrong but shouldn't it say so?
BTW, Toshiba's tech support website is terrible. It takes half an hour to find anything and the FAQs are way too basic. You can find questions like "What is an HD DVD" but very little that goes into more detail.
Basically this is a terrible unit. With the low selection of movies for HD and the terrible equipment that plays it I will buy a PS3 tonight.
I have always been a fan of the underdog but maybe HD DVD needs to be put down.

I knew that HD DVD was going to be on the losing end of the format war but purchased the player anyway when the price point hit what a good up converting player would cost. It is hooked up in my bedroom to a 37" LG 720p LCD Television and looks beautiful. The picture is fantastic, I would say about 20% better than the HD I receive from the cable company, and the sound is superior as well. I will need to purchase a Blu-Ray for my main family room system in the near future but will enjoy burning through the remaining HD DVDs on Netfilx in the coming months before they are discontinued.Digital camera Review: Buy An HD-DVD Player , Studios will have to follow

Hd-dvd has delivered what wAs promised , Blu-Ray has NOT !!
Blu-ray players are more expensive plus do not look or play better the HD-DVD

This unit didn't work out of the box with using a Component Output. After an hour on the phone with an uninformed Toshiba representative they gave me nothing but a run around and I never got an RA to return an obviously defective unit. If you don't have an HDMI connection you could very well be out of luck since they will only let you return defective units if you try with both connections. Last Toshiba product I ever buy.
