This cable was a great deal. It does what I expect, and does it well. I'm not an audiophile, but can tell when a cable is just bad. This is NOT a bad cable.
Some may say it's flimsy looking, but I don't see that as a consideration for this cable. You install it, and then leave it alone. Optical doesn't require shielding like wire, so it saves that extra bit of diameter. As long as you are mindful that it not get crimped or stepped on, it should last as long as you need it to.
Don't waste money buying a cable at retail stores. They are way overpriced, and the extra $$$ you pay isn't going to get you anything better, except maybe a company name stamped on the cable ends, which most people won't even see anyhow.

As with most things digital, an optical cable either works or it doesn't. This one works. The ends seem to be sturdy, and plugged easily into the optical audio out on my HTPC and to the optical audio in on my surround system.
You can't get too excited about a simple cable other than to say it isn't defective. It works. The reason for the five stars is the unbeatable price. These cables sell at electronic specialty stores for several times what I paid on Amazon.

This cable is a welcome alternative to the higher priced cables at local electronic stores. It has no frills -- it just does the job that needs to be done. Make sure when using this cable that the tiny plastic covers are removed from the connectors -- they are very difficult to see. I used 2 of these cables to hook up my PS3 and LCD to my home theater system. The sound quality is good and the price is great. I would have given them a 5 star rating, except like some others have stated, they do not securly 'snap' in. I have had the cables come out only two times so far, it's not a huge deal. If there is no sound, I know just where to check. I think overall for the price, it's a good deal.
