I purchased three of these for my new A/V system. I compared them to an older $30-$40 cable that I purchased at a retail outlet and there is NO DIFFERENCE in performance. The only difference is that these don't come in a big, obnoxious plastic container that takes a chainsaw to open. I bought this cable for $0.34. Yes, that's right. 34 cents. I use this with my Camcorder to instantly playback videos on my HDTV and the clarity this cable provides is second to none. I bought this for my SD780, and I have no problem with it. I don't really see the need for a really expensive cable. I have no problems with it and it stays connected to my TV and waits for my camera to be connected.
