Digital camera reviews of Tripp Lite TRAVELER Protect It! Surge Protector/Suppressor 2 outlets (2 Transformers) For Laptop Use, Direct Plug-In 1050 Joules

Digital camera Review: Great for tight spaces
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this surge suppressor/protector for my new high end front load washing machine (black Friday sale). I buy a new surge protector every 5 years or when I buy new electronic equipment or appliances with digital controllers. (Nearly all surge protectors/suppressors need replacing every 5 years because the parts that do the "protecting" WEAR OUT!)

On a standard surge protector the outlets are on the back, but this set up doesn't work for our new washer, its so tall the it comes up to the outlet height, and the cord plug plugged into a standard surge suppressor would interfere with the back of the washer and make the washer stick out into the laundry room.

Though this is supposed to be a "travel" suppressor, its installed in a "stationary application". Its narrow profile plugs into the wall and clears the back of the washer and because the cord from the washer plugs into the side! No cord plug binding up behind the washer!

Our new washer has digital controls that is why I installed a surge suppressor/protector. Its cheap "insurance". I purchased an extended warranty with the washer, but in many extended warranties "line surges" from thunderstorms are considered "acts of God", or not covered, unless you have a surge protector at the outlet or a professional one installed at the fuse/breaker box.

I have an old surge protector that needs to be replaced on our dishwasher which has an electronic push button control panel. I am will be ordering a second one of these surge protectors for my dishwasher! And it will get the cord from sticking out and hitting the cleaner bottles under the kitchen sink!

Digital camera Review: Great product
Summary: 5 Stars

We bought this product to protect the second laptop in our household. It is compact, has a second outlet into which a second device can be plugged and protected. Because it is compact it plugs directly into a duplex wall outlet and still allows room to the other outlet to be used (unprotected). The lights indicate it is functioning. It fullfils all we expected and we highly recommend it, whether you travel or not. It will fit into a computer travel bag easily.

Digital camera Review: Handy and Portable
Summary: 5 Stars

Here's hoping you never need a surge suppressor, but if you do then this one is great for travelling being compact and collapsable and still offering a reasonable level of protection.

Digital camera Review: Just fine
Summary: 4 Stars

This product works just fine for my wife's laptop. ( A qualification for any surge protector is you don't know if it really works until "lightning strikes :-) She wanted a surge protector which didn't take up a lot of space and she only needed one outlet (so the second is a spare :-) as the printer is wireless and in another room. People with a travel printer will have printer protection too. As an added benefit, she has the use for which it was designed, for travel it packs easily into the laptop's case. (The mechanism for retracting the prongs could move more easily for a woman's fingers.)

Digital camera Review: Never leave home without it....
Summary: 5 Stars

A surge suppressor should be in every laptop travel bag, and this compact unit travels well, taking up very little space. However, for those traveling outside the USA, it should be noted that this unit does NOT convert electricity! My colleague forgot this tidbit and fried his Tripp Lite Traveler while overseas. On the plus side, now we know it really works.
