Digital camera reviews of Tripp Lite U026-016 USB2.0 16-Feet Certified Active Extension CableDigital camera Review: Good active usb extension cable Summary: 5 Stars
I installed the Tripplite active usb extension to increase the length of the RadioLabs usb powered wifi antenna on my sailboat - I can easily pick up a 15dBm signal at usable strength at 1/2 mile. It worked fine with no apparent speed reduction while I stream video over the 11 mbps B network. An added bonus is the red led in the translucent female connection block - kind of cool. When plugged into the notebook for the first time my XP software recognized the new active extender device and installed generic driver. I am buying another to allow V-berth use of wifi.
Digital camera Review: Good deal for a good product. Summary: 5 Stars
I used this to extend my Xbox Kinect -- works great! It doesn't plug into the Kinect directly (Microsoft wants you to buy their cable), but if you buy the power supply for the Kinect it will allow you to use a standard (active) USB cable to connect back to the Xbox.
Digital camera Review: Good device, did not work with my hub Summary: 4 Stars
I bought one of these cables and a miniature hub to extend USB connections from my desktop, routing the cabling around the side of the room to my sofa to keep things tidy. Unfortunately, though my desktop recognized the USB hub just fine, it continued to give errors for any device connected to said hub. Sounds like this is very hit-or-miss for most users anyways; I just bought a second cable instead. Now I run two of these alongside each other to connect my gaming keyboard and mouse, considerably cheaper than purchasing a wireless bundle, and less of a hassle since you don't need to deal with recharging. The socket end of the cable is the same size as other extenders of this type, and is rather tight so I don't need to worry about the keyboard or mouse becoming unplugged as I move them around. Since the device is recognized as a generic USB hub there was no setup trouble whatsoever. Would buy again - already have!
