Digital camera reviews of Tune Belt Sport Armband for iPod nano 4G and Nike+ Receiver (this iPod nano armband fits 4th generation nano and a connected Nike + iPod Sport Kit Receiver)

Digital camera Review: Armband works well but scrolling is not easy...
Summary: 3 Stars

I read some of the reviews that mentioned that scrolling was a bit difficult so I took a chance. I figured people weren't pressing down hard enough, but not so. The mylar is definitely ticker than another cover (by DLO) I have for my video iPod and makes scrolling more difficult. Especially when you are running and you want to adjust the volume, I found it kind of frustrating not being able to scroll very well. Maybe I need to break it in, not sure.

Digital camera Review: Capable but be aware
Summary: 3 Stars

It does the job. It holds your ipod and is pretty comfortable. You can see the screen really well. HOWEVER, like everyone else says. The band is really small. If you have a better than average amount of muscle in your bicep then you may have problems wearing this. Second, I had a little bit of trouble navigating the ipod touch menu through the plastic. I don't know if the plastic is too thick or what. Don't get me wrong, it can be done but it can be a little frustrating.

Digital camera Review: Don't waste your $
Summary: 1 Stars

Where to begin....
1) Can't use the click-wheel at all because the plastic is way too thick. Pressing FWD, BACK, MENU, etc. works fine but it won't pick up the circular motion from your finger on the click wheel at all. Even when I'm holding it in my hand, it won't pick up any motion at all. I'm going to have to cut a circle out if I plan on still using this.

2) I'm not a big dude at all, 160lbs, and this thing barely fits around my arm
3) Pretty thick overall and is a little big/long for the nano (4th gen) even with the nike+ on it

I had the Nike+ armband for my 2nd gen ipod and this was 10x better than this one.

Digital camera Review: Good armband - Good protection
Summary: 5 Stars

I was a little worried about trying this armband at first because another review said that the mylar was too thick for scrolling and controlling the volume adjustment, but I decided to take a chance because I have an older Tune Belt for an earlier iPod and this wasn't a problem. As it turned out I was able to scroll and control the volume with no problems. I guess it is a little more difficult than without the case, but half the time even without any case, it seems like I end up selecting something I didn't want because the nano's scrolling is so sensitive.

Really, for me, the most important feature is coverage. It seems like a lot of the armbands I've checked out either have open tops or don't fully cover the bottom where the Nike + iPod Sport Kit receiver is connected The last thing I want is sweat or rain getting my nano wet. The Tune Belt armband does a really great job of completely covering my nano with the only opening being where the earphone cord goes in. The back of this armband has a flap that covers the opening and while this is a little inconvenient reaching the hold button I'll take the tradeoff for the protection.

The armband certainly looks like a quality product and is comfortable. I only have two minor complaints: 1) the armband seems a little short. My arms are average and it fits fine, but over a jacket is a little tight; 2) at the bottom of the case where the headphone cord comes out it kind of makes the plastic window cover stick up a bit. I guess this is because the nano is so thin and the only problem is I just have to be a little more deliberate when scrolling. Overall, I am very pleased with this armband and think it is good value because it cost about $10 less than the other armbands I checked out.

Digital camera Review: Good case, a little awkward to use
Summary: 4 Stars

The Tune Belt Armband for the Nano 4g with the Nike+ receiver is an excellent choice for a secure and usable armband. I found it much more comfortable than the Incase armband and easier to control the iPod. However, that said... the design of the Tune Belt Armband has some quirks that make it a little inconvenient to put the Nano in and take it out for synching your data. The pocket that holds the Nano is actually two pockets separated by a mesh liner. The design of the pocket assumes that the headphones will be routed through the head phone jack hole in the bottom of the front pocket... So, to insert the Nano you'll need to pass the headphones through the jack hole and up through the top opening, then plug them in. Then insert the nano into the pocket pulling the head phone cable along with it. Not hard (easier than it sounds) but awkward.

Once the Nano is in the pocket with the Nike+ Sports receiver its safe and secure. The transparent face allows easy control of the iPod and the very convenient velcro cable control tab on the side allows you to keep the headphones neatly routed.

Once you're done with your run and you want to synch your run data its time to pull the Nano out. This can be done fairly easily but again, its awkward.

Over all... even with its awkwardness, if I had to replace my current Tune Belt Sport Armband, I would simply buy another one.
