Digital camera reviews of U32 Shadow? 500GB External USB 3.0 Mini 2.5" Portable Hard Drive

Digital camera Review: Mini USB hard drive
Summary: 3 Stars

I received the 500GB hard drive with minor scratches on the surface. It works fine though. Suspect the unit I received could have been returned and re-packaged as brand new. The size of the hard drive is almost similar the Western Digital Passport. I am satisfied with the performance of the hard drive.

Digital camera Review: Nice little external hard drive.
Summary: 4 Stars

A nice little external hard drive to take with you on the go. To be honest I was expecting it to be a little smaller, the hard disk is approximately about 80% the size of a Western Digital Passport and thinner as well. The material of the hard disk is made out of is a black metal and the LED color is green on idle and red/orange on load.

Performance wise:
The Oyen Digital hard drive was able to maintain write speeds of approximately 20MB/s when copying a 10GB file from a OCZ Vertex 2 SSD drive. When copying a 10GB file from the Oyen Digital hard drive to the OCZ Vertex 2 SSD drive, the Oyen Digital hard drive was able to maintain read speeds of appoximately 30MB/s.

Pro:
Small, very portable and it fits nicely in the case that comes with it.

Con:
Since the hard drive is made of metal it does get hotter than the typical ones from Western Digital, Seagate, etc. It gets really warm to the touch. If it wasn't for the heat this product would have received five stars.

Digital camera Review: Oyen Digital 500GB External USB 2.5" Mini Portable Hard Drive
Summary: 2 Stars

My desktop stopped recognizing it as a drive about a week after connecting. I've spent about an hour total trying to resolve, haven't found the solution yet.

Digital camera Review: Perfect for Frequent Travelers
Summary: 5 Stars

The transfer speed is a bit slow -- I'm transferring a few video projects onto the drive now and it's taking a long time -- but the size definitely makes up for it. It's about the size of an iPhone (and usb powered) so it's very easy to take along with you. It also comes with a nice sleeve to protect against damage. I can't speak for life expectancy, but I am very happy with it so far.

Digital camera Review: Perfect little device
Summary: 5 Stars

I am absolutely not a techie. I have had this handy little device for quite a while now--it was my first external memory device and it runs just fine. As my first, I was apprehensive about how it would work. I just plugged it in and it began working immediately. No noise, no plugins needed. It has an indicator light that lets me know I have it plugged in. So far I have had absolutely no trouble with it. If I needed more memory I would buy another Oyen without a qualm.
