This item is everything i had hoped it would be and more....super easy to hook up, and program.....works like a charm, and couldn't be happier!! GREAT PRICE also...as it cost like $80-$100 more at Circuit City. I've passed the good news on to a few of my friends also, and they've had nothing but success just like i have!! You can't beat it.....clean and easy!
Digital camera Review: A remote that works well behind cabinet with HomeTheatre setup Summary: 4 Stars
I've had this remote with the powerblaster setup since 2007. I have it working with a hometheatre receiver, comcast cable dvr, dvd and blueray player and a samsung network TV, all behind a cabinet except the tv. It works great with lots of flexibility and universal volume setup and costs much cheaper than the harmony and I'm not really missing any features from the harmony. It's really easy to set up with provided codes, and I find the "learn" option absolutely ingenious and necessary for special components and special situations when you want to customize the use of a particular button. In my case, the remote's play button stopped working a year ago, so i re-programmed the play button with the "learn" method to another button on the remote to avoid having to buy a new remote. That worked for a year, recently another button stopped responding, so I ended up getting a new RF20 and set it up with the existing powerblaster. I have to say the quality of the remote isn't the best as the buttons do break in a few years, thus 4 stars. But the customer service is simply amazing, I had to call them to help diagnose problems related to setup a couple of times, and a tech guy picked up the phone right away and came up with a solution that's totally not obvious! I was expecting staying on hold for a long time and then get some guy that doesn't know what's going on like with many electronics tech supports I had to deal with before for my other Hometheatre components. But universal's tech support is simply old fashioned good. So despite the fact I have to replace my remote in 3 years, I'm totally happy with the purchase which I can't say with many electronics I bought in the past. Hopefully they'll improve the quality over time even if it means a bigger price tag, I'd still go for it over the harmony.
Digital camera Review: Absolutely Amazing Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this remote control so that I could watch the contents of my cable box from the bedroom which is about 20 feet away, behind 3 walls. It works flawlessly. The RF signal is strong enough. Sometime you may need to put the RF/IR converter in front of the cable box, but that's not a big deal. This absolutely beats buying a separate cable box. Besides, I can watch the contents of the DVR. The remote control is very "clever" -- it really can learn anything your other remote controls can do. I strongly recommend this.
Digital camera Review: Awesome Summary: 5 Stars
This Remote is great. It works from any room in the house and elimates you having to use all your other remotes. Great Product!
Digital camera Review: Awesome Remote Summary: 5 Stars
I just received this remote and am fully satisfied with it. It does everything I wanted it to do perfectly. I figured out how to set it up in about 5 mins and in about 30 mins had it all ready to go. I preferred to just make all my own texts and learn them separately as the pre-programmed stuff had way too many buttons/pages. You can also edit the text of the main screen/components contrary to what some people think. I did have to call tech support to figure out how though. I did get someone on the phone almost immediately and she was very helpful-great tech support. I don't see any cons to this remote. It does everything I need, the construction/buttons seem very good, and the light up screen and buttons are very handy. Also the infrared is way better than any of my separate remotes. My components are behind me and they pick up the remote no matter which way its pointing whereas before I had to point it at the component or get the perfect angle bouncing the beam off the front wall. I don't need to set up the rf yet until we swap cable providers so I can't comment on that yet but from what I've read it works just as smoothly as everything else. For the money there isn't anything that even comes remotely close to the value/performance of this remote.
