I bought this because I have a wall-mounted TV in the bed room and I could only access one HDMI port going into the TV. I recently purchased an AppleTV and wanted to have it share its time with my satellite box. The auto-switching would have worked perfectly but the AppleTV just "sleeps" and doesn't really indicate to the switcher that the power is either on or off. I said no worries there is a remote for the device so I can switch it from across the room (approx. 10-12 feet) but the remote doesn't work that far away. You literally have to be within 4-5 feet from the device to use the remote. So basically I have no use for the provided remote but I have programmed the remote's functions into my smart remote that serves the same purpose.
Other than the remote the device works great! And I would happily recommend this to anyone as long as you know the provided remote is worthless more than 4-5 feet away.
This is ultimately a great value for the money.

Real quick review.
first: the setup is a DVD/HDD player and a Sony Blu-ray, both with 6 foot cables into the unit. another 6 foot cable on output into the TV.
second: it selects the input fairly successfully, but, it might need to be selected manually, even though the input is already selected.
third: it seems like it is underpowered for my configuration. Not enough power gets through for the switches and the image may not get through. If I turn on both units, there seems to be enough draw to make the signal get through. The Sony wouldn't show anything other than boot up until the HDD was turned on. During the HDD playback, the signal got lost twice, for ~ 3 seconds, over a one hour play time. the image turned into digital snow (not pixilated images) during those times. The HDD playback, once rewound, would show the proper image.
Gut feeling is that in most short cabling solutions would work fine with this. But, with 6 foot cables, the signal might degrade so that it can't leech power from the cables well enough to get the signal out.
Still playing with this. The end result might be to get a 5V plug for this, to help the signal boost of the repeater. But, for my limited needs, I don't mind turning on the other products for power support. But, once we get used to our new HDD recorder toy, this could be come tiresome without the 5V adapter.

This is an amazing product for the price. I have a projector setup with only one HDMI-in, and to hookup my FIOS box, 360, and PS3, I needed a switch. When I turn on the xbox or PS3, it automatically switches over, and when I turn my xbox or PS3 off, it automatically switches back to FIOS.Digital camera Review: Amazing
