I just bought this and I just set it up as a handset. My tru9485 did not have a menu option to register a handset. What I had to do was unplug the base, hold down the find HS button, plug the base back in, continue holding the button until a little red light flashed on the base. Then I let go of the button, held down the "#" key on my wxi477 until is said registering handset and it registered.
Before trying this I had to deregister the wxi477 handset. This is a menu option on the handset.
