This is an excellent beginner scanner.
It only took me one hour to read the manual and figure out how it works (I am a beginner).
The only thing that I noticed (not really a negative) is the short number of memories. I really cannot say I was not aware. I just thought I would not need more than 100 but it seems that I will rapidly fill it up.
For the price, this little scanner is hard to beat!

This is an easy way to keep track of the weather and local Fire and Police issues. I enjoy this and listening to everything from Ham radio stations to the docks loading up trains nearby. This radio is great. I bought one used and it came looking brand new!! I use it to hear my local EMS which I am currently in training for. Easy to use. Battery life is a little week but if you get rechargeable batteries you should be fine.
