Digital camera reviews of Uniden BC92XLT Bearcat Handheld Scanner

Digital camera Review: Best scanner I have.
Summary: 5 Stars

I've got this scanner and it works well. Kind of have to take time to figure out the manual, but not too bad. I have not figured out how to get the "display light on squelch" to work. Supposed to light the display when it stops on a transmission. Does anyonw know how to activate it? Maybe it doesn't even have the feature as advertised from where I bought it. (not Amazon.com)A better antenna would help also. I'm going to purchase a longer "Rubber Duck" antenna and also a longer ridged one to pull in the aircraft band. In all a great compact scanner. I like it.

Digital camera Review: Biggest little scanner
Summary: 4 Stars

I've owned many scanners and this is easily my favorite.
It is so small I can carry it everywhere. The headphones from my MP3 work on this scanner so I can listen-in anywhere. Lots of open channels so I can program in frequencices for several locations.
My only complaint is the tiny little speaker does not provide enough volume to use it it a vehicle.

Digital camera Review: Easier than expected
Summary: 4 Stars

My previous scanner experience is limited to preprogrammed scanner use only...even then not much.

Bought to use at NASCAR tracks this year. While I'll play with the "Close Capture" feature (allows it to automatically tune in to active nearby frequencies) at the track, it took less than 30 minutes to program all the primary car, Nascar and broadcast frequencies into the scanner. (130 frequencies)

The "Service Scan" feature is also very easy to use; allowing you to quickly scan through Police, Fire, Air, or Marine frequencies.

Pros: Lightweight, large memory, relatively easy to use.

Cons: It does take a few minutes to become familiar with the button combinations required to activate the functions. It is not intuitive , but becomes easier to use with minimal practice.

Digital camera Review: Exactly what I was looking for
Summary: 5 Stars

My husband has been dropping hints that he wants a scanner for months, so I thought Valentine's Day would be the perfect excuse to suprise him with one. What better way to say I love you than with a gift only a wife would know her husband wants! Everyone I told gave me a confused look when I told them what his gift was, but I knew it would be a winner. And it was perfect, he loves the scanner and uses it all the time - exactly what he was looking for. Thanks for a great product :)

Digital camera Review: Excellent Product
Summary: 5 Stars

This is my second unit and I have not had any problems with either of them. The battery life is about a day, which is great, considering you can charge the NiMH batteries with the included charger. The programming interface is simple, it doesn't dirty easily and is easily cleaned anyway. Great reception, with the big antenna. Fast shipping with this seller... truely a great product. Remember that this product holds 10 banks of 20 frequencies. If you are looking for something smaller, Bearcat has a BC72XLT which is 10 x 10... usually about 20$ less. But an equally quality product. A++++++
