Digital camera reviews of Uniden GMR1235-2 12-Mile 22-Channel FRS/GMRS Two-Way Radio (Pair)

Digital camera Review: Can't beat them for the price
Summary: 4 Stars

Although the claimed a range of 12 miles seems a bit ideal, I was able to get about 1 mile range in a suburban landscape. Other than the distance claim they work great and make great replacements for cheap toy walkie-talkies for my kid.

Digital camera Review: Cool item but doesn't go 12 miles. Maybe in a flat area like a desert?
Summary: 5 Stars

Cool walkie talkies but the claim of a 12 mile range doesn't seem to happen for me. I had my wife drive to our local town (1 mile away) and see how they worked. She made it 2 miles from our house before I could not understand her anymore.

Works great around the yard or for a walk around the neighborhood but I would probably have to invest in a better set if I wanted range.

Digital camera Review: Defective
Summary: 1 Stars

This worked great until we realized the batteries died within 30-60 minutes of use. Each radio takes three AAA batteries. We tried two sets to rule out old or expired batteries, with the same bad result. We had already thrown away the original packaging because we thought they worked great (reception is good), so could not even return them. Really disappointed!

Digital camera Review: EATS BATTERIES
Summary: 4 Stars

Watching my five-year-old twins run around the yard using these was a treat. A FANTASTIC alternative to those crappy cartoon walkie-talkies at about the same price. Can't comment on the range, but they seemed to work fine on the three acres that we have.

HOWEVER: These things eat batteries. I highly recommend rechargeables if you're using for any length of time. Dollar store batteries will not cut it. Or, upgrade to a radio with recharging built in.

Digital camera Review: Excellent and I order MORE
Summary: 5 Stars

I ordered these for a camp, in order for the adults to be able to instantly communicate with each other, as some of the cellphones would not work well, due to various carriers not having service in that area. These radios worked out great. I realized that I needed more and I have since ordered more for next years camp. Every adult decided they needed to have one. This new enhancement has taken our camp to a higher level. The sound is crisp and clear. The range of them is excellent for our needs. It has a range of up to 12 miles, but we only needed like 2 miles. It has many channels to select from. I have no complaints whatsoever. I took extra batteries and was prepared to switch them out every other day. No big deal for me. The value of them and the use of them outweighed the need to switch out batteries.
