I like these walkie talkies; bought them for the kids to use around the house and yard b/c the "toy" ones were just as expensive and didn't even work. I can't comment on the range b/c we haven't tested it. But the kids LOVE using these, and the sound quality is pretty good. maybe even too loud! I'd recommend these above any of the toy ones available out there. and the seem sturdy.Digital camera Review: Great for kids.... but be ready with rechargeable batteries!

The kids loved this. I bought it for my nephew (5 yrs old) and he played with my daughter (4) all evening. Its the right size for child-size hands. Buttons are simple. I don't know about the 12-mile claim since they played indoors, but we picked up other people on their frequency, so odds are it has some decent range. The batteries (which come with it) already went to low by the end of one night! I expected it to be a battery hog because of previous reviews, so I had some rechargeables ready to go. Perhaps a national brand battery will last longer than the no-name batteries that come with it, but I'd rather not spend the money to find out. You probably wouldn't want to get this unless you're prepared to invest in some rechargeables.Digital camera Review: Great for senior citizens

I purchased them as a gift for my elderly relatives (a husband and wife). The husband does not hear well, so this was perfect for the wife, who is bedridden to speak to husband when she needed him. It works out in the neighborhood when he is walking the dog and even in town when he is shopping. Very clear for both of them to hear each other. I gave these to my nephew for Christmas this year. At age 9 he isn't always too easy to buy for. He loves these. Toting them around with his siblings ages 3 and 5, they're having a ball. Also, the family has become a fan because you can keep in contact with the kids while they play in the backyard or downstairs without having to hover. I like these so much I'll be purchasing another set for a friend's sons ages 3 and 5 and know that they'll love the addition. Great grown-up gift as well because the parents are already planning to use these to keep in contact when they take the kids to indoor water parks.Digital camera Review: Great product for the price!

The walkie talkies were great for the price offered. They even came w/their own batteries. My only problem was that there was no headset connectivity. Other than that the product worked as described.
