I installed a Uniden Solara DSC in my sailboat in June 2006 for cruising in Galveston Bay. We have used it for 3.5 years now and it has always worked well, transmitting over 25 miles with a shakespeare antenna mounted 30' above the waterline. I highly recommend this radio for anyone desiring a well built VHF radio. Next, we are connecting the Garmin GPSMap 76 to it for position data. No reservations recommending this radio. We are not replacing it in the near future.
