Digital camera reviews of Uniden TRU9465-2 5.8 GHz Digital Expandable Cordless Phone with Dual Keypad and Extra HandsetDigital camera Review: A good set of phones with a lot of features Summary: 5 Stars
I got this model Uniden phone set because it doesn't operate on the same frequency as my wireless router. I'm quite pleased. Sound quality is fine, there is no interference between the router or the handsets (I use VOIP service, so my phone base and my router are physically very close) and the controls are easy to use. The phone's range is great - it reaches everywhere in the house, and almost the entire yard. Features like the intercom and room monitor are handy - no more shouting across the house or going upstairs to check on the sleeping kids. So far, so good.
Digital camera Review: A top notch cordless phone. Summary: 5 Stars
This phone is really good. Sound quality is excellent, features such as phonebook are easy to use. In my opinion it measures up to prior positive reviews.
Digital camera Review: Be aware there is no answering machine with this phone (Uniden TRU9465-2) Summary: 2 Stars
First, the good news.
The display is excellent. The backlighting of the keys is excellent.
The batteries hold up very well.
Overall, the phone part is very good, although the range is a little short.
My old 2.4 GHz Panasonic phone would work 250 feet from my house. The Uniden, at 5.8 GHz loses signal after about 100-150 feet. So it is difficult to use in the yard. Disappointing.
The charger base for the 2nd handset would benefit from being weighted. It is very easy to knock off the bedside table when you grab the phone.
I already had a TRU9485-4WX and except for the short range, I really liked the phone. So we bought the Uniden TRU9465-2 as a gift. The picture looked 'just like' our phone, which does have an answering machine but this phone had only two phones. Just what we were looking for!
But I missed the part where there is no answering machine on this phone. It has 'voice mail' capability, where you can tie into your phone company's voice mail???
Yes ... I should have read the fine print.
But why in the world would a $79 phone not have an answering machine?
I felt this phone was a bit expensive when I thought it HAD an answering machine but I liked my existing phone.
Without an answering machine, this phone is WAY overpriced.
Digital camera Review: Beyond my expectations Summary: 5 Stars
After reading reviews here I went ahead and purchased the Uniden TRU9465 cordless phone. Simply, I've had no probelms with voice quality and my entire family is quite pleased with many features of the cordless phone system.
Digital camera Review: Caller ID problem may be carrier-related Summary: 4 Stars
I acquired a TRU9465-2 a few days ago and bought an additional TCX905 handset the next day for another room. I must say that so far I am very impressed, having received compliments from telephone callers. Adding the extra handset took five seconds--placing the fully-charged handset on the base station--and required no other actions on my part.
About the caller ID problem: I deliberately called my TRU (on my Bright House Network's cable system) from my cell phone (on Cingular) and was identified as LASTNAME FIRSTNAME. I then entered my cell phone number with a dummy name in my phonebook and called again. The display read LASTNAME FIRSTNAME as it had before. It has always identified me by name, although it does not use the one in my phonebook. Perhaps this problem is carrier-, not phone-, related. It would be nice for the system to use my phonebook's information, but for me it's not a deal-killer. I still know who's calling from caller ID.
The only problem I've noticed so far is that, when you copy the phonebook from one station to another, the name and number are copied but any selected ring for that person is not.
