Digital camera reviews of Uniden TRU9465-2 5.8 GHz Digital Expandable Cordless Phone with Dual Keypad and Extra HandsetDigital camera Review: Flawed Caller ID Function Summary: 3 Stars
This phone has several nice features, but also some maddening flaws. On balance, I wish I'd bought a different brand.
When a call comes in with caller ID data, I expect my phone to look up the number in my phonebook and display the name from my phonebook, not the raw caller ID name. For example, many people who call me call from cell phones. The raw name data for all of them is WIRELESS CALL. But if the phone matches the caller ID number to a number in my phone's phonebook, the caller ID screen can display "MOM" instead of "WIRELESS CALL." Much more useful. My cell phone works this way. Your cell phone works this way. My 10-year old non-Uniden landline phone (now defunct, alas) worked this way.
Uniden's phones, or at least this model, do not work this way. You get the raw caller ID name displayed -- no matching to phonebook entries. Does that mean that you get fifty calls a day from WIRELESS CALL when all of your callers' names are right there in your phonebook? Yes. Uniden's product philosophy apparently is: Don't be so lazy -- memorize and learn to recognize the numbers of your callers.
There's also a glitch in the transfer of phonebook data from the base to the handset. The base display said that it had transferred all phonebook entries, but in fact one entry did not transfer, even after multiple tries. I had to hand-enter it separately into the handset.
If these problems don't concern you, then maybe the Uniden is a good choice for you. Otherwise, pick a different phone.
Digital camera Review: Good But... Summary: 3 Stars
This is a good phone. But I agree with the previous post about the caller ID function. You will not be able to match up the person calling with the numbers in your phone book. This is very annoying. The phone itself is great. It is a little more complicated than others we've owned, but it also has more features. If you don't mind "wireless caller" coming up for every cell phone and not knowing who is calling then this is a great phone.
Digital camera Review: Good quality, happy with purchase Summary: 4 Stars
I like the global setup in that you can choose your options from either the base or a handheld; I used this recently to change the time to DST. I also like having the speaker available on each handheld and the base, so I can use speakerphone no matter what room I'm in. The "find handset" has come in handy, too. Of course, if you need to, you can dial straight from the base and use the speakerphone. I haven't had the time to look into the other features yet, so I'm no help there.
The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't record calls on the caller ID when I'm on the internet (I have dial-up). Other than that, I'm happy with the purchase. However, I do wish I had bought a phone with an answering machine. Overall, it's a good phone set.
Digital camera Review: Good value Summary: 5 Stars
Based on price and functionality I feel this phone was a good buy. Only drawback is size of keypad.
Digital camera Review: Great PRODUCT Summary: 5 Stars
The Uniden TRU9465-2 Expandable Cordless System turned out to be as good as the reviews said it was. We really like the quality construction and features. I accidently dropped the handset once and it never skipped a beat. Works great, and the features are really appealing as well, like different ring tones for different callers, and built-in speaker phone right in the handset itself. VERY COOOL. I would without hesitation recommend this phone to anyone & everyone. As always, THANKS for reading my reviews and be well. The WebbMan
