Digital camera Review: Great HDTV remote

I purchased this to replace several remotes after upgrading to HDTV. Had Panasonic, Sony, JVC devices. It was able to handle the job. I did need to use the Cable Device input and available code for the Sony HGDHDD250. If you watch the video DVD and follow the instructions in the manual you can make it perform as a super single solution. Check prices as they have been coming down. The main reason I bought this remote was Amazon had a great price and I had a discount coupon. I've since discovered it has some great features. Like it's relatively easy to program macros, it lights up at night, and the volume and channel up-down buttons always work, regardless which mode it's in. This device works just great. It only didn't have the code for one device. But for that device having it learn the fuctions was extremely simple. Macro set up is also very easy, (just remember to put in pauses if you have to wait for your TV to start up before performing other TV fuctions). Very easy to use. Great backlight. I think it would be difficult to find a remote at a better price that gives you all this fuctionality. My wife can just touch one button and turn on the TV, DVR and sound system, have the TV change to the correct input for the DVR and have the remote move to the cable menu. All she has to do is change channels. Sound from sound system is punched through to all the other devices so if you hit up volume from any device screen it controls the sound system. Just wanted to give fellow customers some input on this remote. I receieved mines a few days ago. Setup was a breeze. Some of the preprogrammed functions for some of my devices did not work well (for example the codes in the book for a panasonic vcr did not work well with my panasonic vcr and i did try all of the codes, yeah i know i am one of the few with a vcr, the same problem happened with my Toshiba Tivo, sony receiver, and sony dvd changer), but I used the manual programming/infrared learning feature which was wonderful! I have not tried setting up any of the macro functions, but for now I am very happy. Overall, my hdtv worked with the remote w/o any problems out of the box. I did not have to even program anything. I programmed my vcr, receiver, Tivo, and dvd changer.Digital camera Review: Great remote for the price, with a few quirks.

I have the URC200 model and liked it so I purchased this one (URC300). The ergonomics of this remote are perfect for my DirecTivo satellite units. These remotes cost 1/3 of the Harmony models and probably provide 90 - 95% of the functionality - so they are a bargain.
Overall, these remotes are very easy to customize with a few exceptions: 1) The learning function works great sometimes and other times it takes many repeated tries to have success. 2) You cannot easily copy/move a device preset from page 2 to page 1 on the remote - this means you have to manually edit a device on page 1 to be the equivalent of a device on page 2 (an example was the DVR function that I needed to be on page 1). Luckily this process is pretty straight forward and intuitive, so it's not a deal breaker, just a temporary inconvenience.
Once the remote was setup it's great! The macro functionality is easy to setup and works great (i.e. When I press the DVD button for one second, it changes the input on the TV, power's on the audio receiver, and power's on the DVD). The volume punch through feature is great, so that the remote controls the audio source you want (TV, Audio Receiver, etc).
Now my wife can easily watch DVDs with this remote (she refused to learn the old 3 remote method), so I don't have to be called to do it every time! I would recommend this product to anyone wanting to simplify their remote situation at home, and not spend too much.
