There are two generations of The V-Moda Vibe... the first generation, manufactured in China by a company called OTC, and a 2nd generation, with a different sound, different components, different manufacture, and way less build quality and sound quality.
This is confusing and unfair... many reviews refer to the original version.. especially reviews on enthusiast boards, and that quality and sound is long gone... the modern professional and enthusiast reviews are nearly always negative, and the product is not recommended.
I suggest you stay away from the Vibes... better and cheaper options abound.
To be fair, customer service at V-moda is excellent.. you'll probably need it.
Digital camera Review: Beautiful but horribly disappointing sounding headphones

I have been wanting to get these headphones since I first saw them at costco for like $50...well LUCKY ME! I just so happen to see that the pink ones are now only $13 on amazon. And i also had just lost my sony earphones a couple of days ago. So I ordered them and since them have been anxiously waiting for these for the better part of this week. When they arrived, I was so desperate I tore the package with my teeth! not really. anyways, all joking aside once i opened the product you can't imagine the dissapointment i experienced. First off, i probably won't be seeing something that pink unless i decide to have children. Then i heard them. Wow listen to all that bass...but only bass. I listen to a lot of rock, classical, metal, and electronica...well i couldn't make out anything with these headphones besides drums and the bass guitar. Don't get these headphones unless you are a bass player and you only listen to recordings of a bass guitar, or if you really just find that headphones these days have too much definition and you want to find a pair that only produces bass.

I own a pair of Klipsch Custom 3's and a pair of Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 5 Pro's as well as the Ultimate Ears Super.Fi Pro EB's. The above earbuds each retail for between $200.00 and $300.00 dollars...... guess what? The V-Moda Vibes are the earbuds I use most. Don't get me wrong I love all my earbuds. But each earbud is like owning specialty earbuds for the type of music you are listening too, classical, rock, jazz, folk, soul... you get the idea. If you LOVE TIGHT ACCURATE BASS, without loosing the mid and highs, you can't beat the V-Moda Vibe.Digital camera Review: Best bang for the buck!

I don't understand why so many people are giving these headphones such a terrible review. For the record, I have spend over $200 on headphones before and these are only slightly below the rating of the expensive ones. I had issues with the first pair but it my own fault. I got the cord snagged on a dumbbell at the gym and it ripped out. However, I purchased another pair last October 2009 and I am still using that pair 5 days a week or more. Good treble, extremely powerful bass. I would suggest that for the audiophile that enjoy strong bass in their music, these headphones are for you.
