Digital camera reviews of V-MODA Vibe In-Ear Noise-Isolating Metal Headphone (Gunmetal Black)Digital camera Review: Buyer Beware!! Summary: 1 Stars
As reported by a number of other reviewers these headphones are not at all durable. Mine broke after just over a year of very gentle use. The coating around the wire disintegrated and they are no longer usable. Since there is only a 1-year warranty I do not have the option of replacing them.
Digital camera Review: Careful, some of the bad reviews are correct. Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased this exact model based on the tremendous amount of decent reviews that everyone has given it. If you research headphones, many .org, .com and even cnet.com rates the V-Moda products as a very good 'bang for the buck' stuff. But many of the negative reviews are accurate. Durability is not a key feature, therefore reliability is not as well which leads me to think they are cheaply made. Purchased these in March 19, 2009 and they broke in mid July (just short of 4 mos). I believe it was related to the cheap cabling as the headphones began to cut out in sound simultaneously in one ear or the other, sometimes both. If it wasn't cutting out, it was heavily distorted in both ears. I'm meticulous about my stuff, and to encounter these problems suddenly lead me to write this review to inform potential buyers. However I gave it three stars still because I emailed V-Moda for warranty replacement/repair. They immediately responded. I shipped them off at my own expense (only cost 3-4 bucks)and they told me they were going to replace it. Now in the process of returning to me. Above par customer service. Summary::
Pros:
-Customer service is very good.
-Base quality is not exaggerated; crisp and clean. Puts the factory Apple headphones to shame.
-Treble is not drowned by the bass--I set my Apple eq to 'treble boost' + headphones good bass = Excellent sound for the bucks.
-comfort may take some getting use to. I sometimes sleep to my iPod MB533LL/A and comfort takes some negotiating with these.
Cons:
-Well, they broke... within only four months too.
-I agree that the cabling can be construed as cheaply made.
-provided protective case blows. I keep it in my Bose in ear Headphone's case.
-uhh, I'm stretching it here now...
Note: look for amazon.com promo codes. Paid $46 for mine 8D. GL GD.
Digital camera Review: Comparing Three Different Sets: V-Moda, J-Buds, Sony Summary: 4 Stars
I've now got three pair of earbuds to compare, V-Moda Vibe (2nd generation), J-Buds, and Sony MDR-ED21LP Fontopias. If I'm listening to music directly from my computer, sound-quality wise, I'd rank them J-Buds, Fontopia, and V-Moda. Base and treble or highs are crisper in that order. If I'm listening to my Sony Walkman (8 GB MP3)and there is little ambient noise, then surprise, Fontopia, J-Buds, and V-Moda.
It's important to compare what you're listening to as well as where and for what purpose. When I'm walking on a city street, I don't want noise canceling, so Fontopia's open design is best. Oddly, though, Fontopia gives the best bass of the three.
If I'm listening to classical music - say Itzhak Perleman - then I'll give the J-Buds the higher rating. (I also like the J-Buds because it has the longest cord, but not too long.)
However, and this is very important, the differences between the three are not readily apparent under any circumstances. There's no way to listen to all three at the same time, so everything become relevant. The V-Moda are initially the most comfortable. After 4 hours, they're all a pain in the ear.
There is one thing that I really don't like about the V-Moda: the R and L for right and left channel is hidden under the rubber bud, and it does make a difference. What doesn't make a difference is how good they look, and that I'll never understand. Paying more for red than black seems downright silly. And once they're in your ears, you can't see them anyway. You want something that disappears, get hearing aids.
The V-Modas do seem "brighter" with pop music from the computer. They also "cancel" ambient noise slightly better than the J-Buds. Sooooo, I might go V-Moda on a plane and J-Buds for all other situations. BUT the Sony's still have the best bass and it's noticeable. Btw, on the Sony Walkman, the "Custom setting" is best because you can diddle with your own preferences, but "Pop" gives a better overall range than "Heavy." As for the iPod, I no longer care after having two of them wear out the batteries faster than even an i-River. (Besides, who wants to convert all that music and deal with such proprietary nonsense?)
Digital camera Review: Correct product wrong color Summary: 5 Stars
The product I ordered was great , excellent quality and sound reproduction , very happy with the product . My only problem was I received the incorrect color that I ordered , I know thats a minor complaint but still what one wants is what one wants .
Digital camera Review: DO NOT BUY Summary: 1 Stars
I got the newest version from amazon on April 6, 2009. Now, three months later after light use (walking) the left ear goes out. Now I have to return them and they make you pay for the shipping cost. WTF VMODA? The sound quality was good and they were comfortable but they really are not worth 50 dollars. Save your money and buy a proper set of earbuds. This is the worst item I have ever bought online and the company return policy stinks. They know that these break a lot yet they make you pay for the shipping. I emailed them before I bought these asking if the quality was better then the reviews made me believe. They told me that their engineers fixed the problem and that they would work for more then a year. Well here I am with a pair of useless earbuds that cost me 50 dollars and only worked for 3 months. Please, dont buy these unless you feel like returning them every three months.
