Digital camera Review: Great Tripod

This is the second Vanguard tripod I've owned. The first was the SKT-300. As far as lower priced tripods go I would place Vanguard at the top of the list. The 300 is now going on 20 years old and it still functions as advertised. I purchased another video camera and needed another tripod. The look and quality if the 128 is identical. The three legs are made of brushed aluminum with plastic support struts. The plastic is heavy duty enough for any balance weight you plan to hang from it. So don't let this scare you. The height of 63 inches when fully extended is usually enough to get you above the obsticles that may be in your way. When fully extended there are two adjustments to tighten the boom giving you added stability. If you've used another tripod and had a wobble problem when fully extended you'll love this feature. There is a bubble level to ensure your tripod is set and level, and the legs are easily adjustable to any length. The carry handle is sturdy enough to allow you the option for a quick lift from one location and reset in the next without totally collapsing the unit.
The only drawback of the unit is how tight the head is. If your video recording it may not be as smooth a rotation as you'd like when panning from left to right. I remember this from when I bought the 300. So I've already added a light oil to loosen it up for a smoother pan.
All in all if your looking for a good tripod for Photo or Video recording you can't get a better unit for the money.
