Digital camera Review: A great lightweight alternative to a Tripod

I purchased the Velbon Monopod as an alternative to lugging around a Manfrotto Tripod. While the Manfrotto is solid and a good tool, it is heavy and quite cumbersome to haul around for a days shooting outdoors.
The Velbon, made of Carbon Fiber, is quite strong for it's weight. It is light enough to carry all day without issue. I typically use it for birding and mount a full size E-30 dslr and equipped with a Sigma 135-400mm lens.
The Velbon handles the weight just fine. I am 6'2" and find that the Velbon's ability to extend to 66.5" is a major plus. The locking rings are easy to lock and unlock when adjusting the height.
I've been using the Neopod 7 for six months now, and find nothing to complain about. A well made product at a reasonable price.
