Digital camera reviews of Verbatim 95310 8.5GB 6x Double Layer DVD+R DL Discs (20pk Spindle)

Digital camera Review: Best media hands down
Summary: 5 Stars

After trying every brand available that I could get my hands on, in both retail and online, and local computer shows, and burning tons of coasters (over the past 22 yrs since the first 1x CD-R drives came out), I decided that IMHO, Verbatim is the only brand for which my money will be well spent. I used to shop for media based upon price, and I was 'rewarded' for that by ending up with at least 10% of the discs failing to burn properly, or failing to verify after the burn. This is with CD-R, DVD+R, and DVD+R DL media. Most other 'brands' do not actually manufacture their own media, instead they buy mass-produced generic discs from China and then brand them under their own name, i.e., Maxxell Memorex, HP, TDK, Imation. The actual OEM of these discs can vary from batch to batch depending upon where they are sold, and the quality control seems almost entirely absent other than a visual inspection if there is in fact a blue AZO dye cyanoacrylate layer. There are only 2 other brands besides Verbatim that I know that manufactures their own media, Mitsui (for their 'Gold' product line) and Taiyo Yuden, but unfortunately these brands are not available as widely as Verbatim, and almost never at retail.

I am on a Mac since 2005 and have used a variety of drives from Pioneer, Samsung, and LG, and use the media mostly for data backup, and occasionally for making video DVDs. Using Roxio on Windows before that, as well as Nero, but since I moved to the Mac, I started with Roxio 7 and now am on Roxio Toast Titanium 9 on Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.6 and have zero issues with the media, or the software.

I will ONLY ever buy Verbatim media from now on. This purchase I burned all 25 DVD+R DL discs, with no issues, no coasters, and for that, it was WELL worth it. Do yourself a favor and dont buy crappy discs unless you want to waste time and money.

Digital camera Review: Best out there
Summary: 5 Stars

Bought these for a "friend" which I found out is the best dvd's out there to make backup Xbox360 games. My "friend" had success with every single dvd except one(laptop fell when burning the disc). Pretty good odd I would say.

Digital camera Review: Burn @ 4x- no problems
Summary: 5 Stars

I've gone through 200+ of these discs over the years and cannot recall a bum burn. If your drive allows it, 4X D/L burning instead of 2.4X performs flawlessly- I have yet to have it fail. Using Nero 8 or ImgBurn 2.4 on Sony, LG, NEC drives.

Digital camera Review: Buy these over any other brand.
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a MacBook running Leopard. These worked perfectly for me. I had used Memorex but kept getting errors. These just do what they're supposed to.

Digital camera Review: Can't beat the quality for these Made in Singapore discs
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased these on June 2nd and the ones I received were in fact Made in Singapore. I've been using these Verbatim DL discs for a while now to backup photos and data from my computer and out of the last 50 I used, not one single coaster. I know that sometimes even after you back up your photos and data with no errors, when you try to access it you may get a corrupt data error. I'm happy to say that I have not yet encountered any errors yet either. I love these and will never buy any other brand!

p.s. And I bet the person who marked this and the previous couple of reviews saying these discs work great as "not useful" probably is bitter about the bad batch or the Made in India version they got. As I said, as of early June, these are the Made in Singapore versions and they are the best Dual Layer discs out there.
