Digital camera reviews of Verbatim 96781 Nano Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse - BlackDigital camera Review: LOVE this thing, with one funny flaw Summary: 5 Stars
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I bought myself a black MacBook after Thanksgiving, after wanting it for years. Although I love it, I am not used to some laptop things like having to use your little touchpad for everything. It gets a bit frustrating sometimes, because the touchpad is so sensitive, sometimes I haven't even touched the pad, and it sends a message to the computer to do something I hadn't wanted to do.
Anyway, enter the Nano wireless mouse. Love it! It is a nice compact design, and has a nice feel in my hand. It also came w/ the two AAA batteries needed to operate. The mouse is also available in several cute colors, but mine is black. There is a little wireless connection that you plug into one of your USB ports. This thing is small enough that you just leave it there, unless you need your ports for many things. If you have to take the wireless connection out, it stores underneath the mouse in a tidy spot, it clicks into place.
I used the included CD ROM to download the software for the mouse w/o a hitch, and I was up and running in a few minutes. The whole thing is very self-explanatory and easy.
Also, switching between using the mouse and not using it is easy, just use your computer's track pad if that is handy. If you are ready to use the mouse again, just click it a few times to "reactivate" it, and you're all set.
I waited for several months to get a wireless mouse because I didn't know which one to buy. This is the one!
EDITED 7/24/09: Now that I have been using this mouse for about a month now, I have to report that there is one quirk with it. Sometimes the cursor trails off on its own, for no apparent reason. Sometimes it makes me select something I didn't want to select in a pull-down menu, because I was going to click on something to select it, and because it starts to roll off, I click on the wrong thing. Usually it doesn't really affect me besides that. I still like this mouse and still recommend it, despite this quirk.
Digital camera Review: Like it Much Better than Apple's Bluetooth Mouse Summary: 5 Stars

I plugged the mini dongle into the back of my iMac and it just started working. I don't even know why they include a CD with this mouse. I didn't use it. This little guy fits well in my hand and now I'm not using heavy, battery eating, bluetooth Apple mouse that I bought with my computer. I couldn't be happier with mouse, four legged or otherwise.
Digital camera Review: Mixed bag Summary: 3 Stars
Pros: The nano receiver is great for netbooks as you don't need to remove it, nor is it half the size of the computer as others I've seen. It works without a problem w/o having to install drivers on XP and Vista.
Cons: However, the mouse has trouble tracking on some surfaces (especially glossy and/or dark ones) where my corded Kensignton mouse works flawlessly.
Neither here nor there: It's closer in size to a desktop mouse, so it's a bit bigger than I would prefer, but not by much.
Digital camera Review: Name is misleading - Good mouse though Summary: 3 Stars

Ok so I need to address the obvious. Is this truly "nano" size? Absolutely not! The mouse itself is about the size of 80% the length of an iPod touch but with a lot more girth. So whats nano about the mouse? The dongle.
Naming conventions aside, I would still have to give the mouse good reviews, why?
Because the mouse was very accurate in movement. It reacted in the same movement and sped as my hand and that is importanat when working with spreadsheets on a day to day basis. By far a better mouse than the Kensington slim blade (seen in photos). Honestly I will be using this as my primary mouse. Its just so smooth and fluid.
Now as for gaming, forget it. This should be used for normal run of the mill computer work (surfing, spreadsheet, word docs, etc.).
So 2 stars for the size (nano it is not) see my pics
And 4 stars for the accuracy of movement.
Bottom line 3 Stars. Had they not called this a "nano" mouse it certainly would have been borderline 4 star mouse.
Digital camera Review: Near-perfect! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the first one of these in February to use with my netbook. I love it! It is small enough, and large enough. I was using a corded, tiny, Targus mouse, and it broke, so I wanted to go wireless. Found this somewhere else on sale. I was impressed enough that when I bought my daughter a laptop for her birthday, I also bought her one of these from Amazon. I like everything about it - the dongle goes into the underside and also functions as an on-off switch to save battery life when not in use. On the computer, the dongle is so small it is out of the way no matter which port I use it in. The mouse fires right up, and I like the "action" on it. I don't have to use a lot of motion to get it where I want it onscreen. the construction seems solid, everything works right out of the box (which is good, as my netbook has no cd port for installing anything!) Am very HAPPY with this mouse, and strongly recommend it!
