Digital camera Review: Nice picture, good value

This is my first digital photo frame. Did some research first, and discovered that most other frames of this size in this price range had much lower resolution (i.e., fewer pixels). At 800 x 480 pixels, photos look great. Brightness is more than adequate (I actually dropped it down a bit from factory setting). Contrast is okay, but not great - better than most of the competing frames. Easy to load photos onto this device - it connects to your computer just like a card reader, or you can simply load your photos onto a flash memory card and then insert the card into the frame. Suggest that you create JPEG photo files of about 800 pixel resolution to load onto your flash card, as a higher resolution file will simply waste storage space and will get scaled down to 800 x 480 pixels anyway. Haven't tried either the audio or video features yet. Will report back on these later.
Update (4/19/2009): Recently tried the video playback capability, and it works quite well -- image quality (from a 640 x 480 pixel source) is very good, and the sound is surprisingly intelligible considering that it was recorded with a point-and-shoot camera that was designed primarily for still photography. My only complaint is that you can't intersperse photos and videos. The frame will only display one or the other, as determined by the playback mode that you select (i.e., either photo or video). It would be nice if the frame could show some photos, then show a video, and then switch back to photos. Oh well, still a good buy at less than $70.

Bought this as a gift after exhaustive research. Excellent image quality, very configurable. The frame is solid and attactive, with option to sit portrait or landscape. Comes with power adapter and USB cord. Plugged into the computer, the frame functions as a card reader/writer. Could not be easier to copy/delete pictures from 128MB internal memory or additional memory card(s). Displays photos AND videos, plays audio files separately or as part of a photo slideshow.
In short, it does it all, for a price you just can't beat. ViewSonic brand is reason enough to give this one a closer look. You won't be disappointed.

Screen is very clear and sharper than older frames that I've owned. It worked just as described right out of the box. I suppose the one thing I do find a tad annoying is that it determines slide order ONLY by the order you import the images into the frame. So...when I want to change the order on the frame, I have to erase all the images and then re-import them one by one in the new order. Honestly, since I don't do that very often it's not a problem. I'm fairly tech savvy but having the buttons on the back and a confusing manual makes setting this up one big pain ! The screen is first rate with very bright and clear photos and that's why you buy these in the first place!
