Digital camera Review: Don't Buy Hard Drives From Amazon

I received a hard drive in a large box. The hard drive was not wrapped with ANY protective material. The drive was put on one side of the box, which was dented, and the empty space was filled with the air pockets which did nothing to protect the drive during shipping. I don't know if it will work or not but I don't want to find out. I am going to return it in the same package if I can and let Amazon deal with it. I installed this (black) hard drive on a fast computer with an OEM copy of Win 7 (64 bit). It scored 5.9 on the Windows Experience Index. Amazon did a great job of packing it and, of course, it arrived a couple of days before the expected date.
NOTE: This is an OEM hard drive and does not come with SATA cabels for either power or data, nor any screws to fasten it to the computer case.
I hightly recommend it to anyone who doesn't need a hard drive that is larger in capacity.

Received hard drive in a very timely matter. The packaging was horrible ... only 2 airbags, one top of the drive the other on the side of the drive. Bottom of the drive was touching the box and the drive was sliding all over banging the 3 unprotected sides. WD specifies if approved packaging is not used then it will void the warranty. I seriously doubt this is approved packaging. I did not even try to use the drive, I immediately RMA'ed it back to amazon. Drives shipped in this manor do not last long. I usually buy from the egg place but according to their reviews they also ship with poor packaging and have constant DOA drives. First, like other have mentioned, Amazon could have done a little better for packaging on these. I'm Prime (which I love!) and was slightly dissapointed. It was a medium size box with 3 air bags, 1 of which was deflated. There was then an inner box, which looks like the standard OEM box.
This comes with no rails, no SATA and no screws. I knew this going in and have plenty, but just be warned!
Loaded Windows 7 in no time and give me a 5.9 on the Win 7 Experience for HD transfer (not sure if this is lowered by my 1.5tb WD Green general storage drive)
