A suggestion about PC proection offered by some IT professionals is to have a physical clone of system HD including all softwares,settings, drivers, and updates. This WD drive is the highest quality WD, big enough, and good price. So I did it, and plan to repeat cloning once in 6 to 12 months. So in case bad things may happen to my PC, including virus and corrupted or pesty softwares that could not be removed, I just plug in my spare HD. Within 15 minutes the system should be running as a charm.Digital camera Review: Great

Bought 2 of the 640GB drives to run in RAID 1. Worked flawlessly. Each of the two drives (ordered from Amzazon) came wrapped in a layer of bubble wrap and placed in seperate boxes then the two boxes had Amazon's standard air bags to cushion the boxes in the main box.
These drives are noticeably faster than my old drive with only a 16MB Cache.

The WD Black Edition drives are known for their dependability and performance. This drive has a limited 5 year warranty (the blue and green versions have 3 year warranty). It has two processors, 32MB of cache, and the motor shaft is secured on both ends rather than just one end. It is a well-rated drive at the Egg store. I have this drive in a firewire enclosure and have Time Machine backups on it.
The packaging was good and bad. The drive was packed in a small box with plastic supports on the ends of the drive which made the drive very secure in this box. The problem was this box was in a larger box with no packaging at all around the smaller box which contained the drive. There was space enough for the smaller box containing the drive to move about during shipping. It was shipped by USPS but the drive was delivered by FedEx to my city, and then turned over to USPS for delivery. The delivery was prompt.

I was somehow unsure on buying these HD after the comments on packing but at least for my 640GB WD HD i can assure u that i comes safe, it came inside a box with a support on both ends that keep the HD "in the air", as i buy other stuff the HD box came inside a bigger one with air packs, by the other reviews i think amazon correct the packing issue, so at least i can tell u to feel confident that u will get ur HD safe...
