Digital camera reviews of Western Digital Caviar Green 1 TB Bulk/OEM Hard Drive 3.5 Inch, 16 MB Cache, 5400 RPM SATA II WD10EACSDigital camera Review: Now replaced by a much improved version, the WD10EADS Summary: 3 Stars
There is an even better version of this drive out, Western Digital WD10EADS 1TB SATA 32MB Cache Green Power Bulk/OEM Hard Drive. Look for that version instead - it has better speed, and lower power consumption. Tom's Hardware says "We have to advise against getting the first generation Caviar Green drive--the WD10EACS--because the current model WD10EADS is just so much better. ... If you want an efficient drive go for the WD Caviar Green WD10EADS, not the WD10EACS."
Digital camera Review: One of my favorites Summary: 5 Stars
This is my favorite STORAGE drive. It runs quiet and cool and it is relatively inexpensive. I have bought several, with the first one being for my TiVoHD and it's been working great for almost a year now. However, I would not use this drive as a main drive for someone who wants great performance. NOTE: Newer models of this drive use 3 platters instead of 4 and are faster and even more efficient. These drives run at 5400 RPM.
Digital camera Review: QUIET! Summary: 5 Stars
How quiet? Even though I'm running programs, burning DVDs, doing things I just KNOW is demanding intense hard drive activity, I can't tell the thing is running. It's fast enough for iMovie, iDVD and is a good "replacement" for the stock 320 gb HD that came with my iMAC. Store the old drive somewhere safe in case your iMAC (or, God forbid, this drive) ever crashes so you can replace it before you take your iMAC in for service.
Buy one.
Digital camera Review: Quiet & Cool Summary: 5 Stars
Great drive. Lots of space at a good price. Runs very cool & quiet. Performance is fine (it's in my Windows Home Server machine) and it eco-friendly. Can't beat it!
Digital camera Review: Stable, works but slow Summary: 4 Stars
I like this drive simply because it does what i want it to do but because of its energy saving feature the drive behaves like a 5,400rpm rather than a 7,200rpm drive
