This devices was easy to install. It's working fine. The question that comes to mind, since this device is working 24 hours/day, 7 days a week, is what will longevity be like? Only time can tell.
For now, I am quite pleased.

I followed the directions. No problems, reset tivo, worked like a charm. One thing I did was go ahead and buy an eSATA cable since some reviews said it was a problem, although I don't plan on using the one in the box. I figured a $3 cable was worth it on top of the cost. As far as reliability and time to failure I guess we'll see. One thing that I don't think I'll ever believe is that a rotating disc (either cd, dvd or hdd) can operate just as well vertically as it does laying flat. It just seems that gravity is putting extra strain on rotating the disk which you'd want to avoid. Additionally with this drive the sides if you lay it flat, or the top and bottom if you have it vertical, are a grate for ventilation. This mean that by standing it vertically you are ignoring the recommendation to not obstruct vents. I don't know why they insist on always picturing it standing. For anyone else wanting to lay it flat it does make sense that way. Hopefully mine will last longer than a few monthsDigital camera Review: Endless space!

Wow, I now have an insane amount of space. No more worrying about shows dropping off! Quick and easy installation, no problems with the drive so far. The Tivo Suggestion folder has almost 300 programs in it and it's still adding more. I wish I had bought the drive sooner!Digital camera Review: Excellent Add on to Your DVR

Worked like a charm to significantly expand my DVR's memory. Very easy to hook up. I did order an upgraded eSATA cable instead of using the one that came with it. One thing, when you hook this up, it disables your current hard drive so anything you have on it can not be accessed while using the 1TB drive (I have DirecTV). You can go back and watch your old hard drive shows by unplugging the new drive and doing a hard start (unplug/replug) your DVR, it re-accesses your old drive. You can hook the new drive back up using the same process as before. Also, the shows you had set up to record on the original drive do not carry over, you have to set them up again on the new drive but once you've done that you can switch back and forth and the shows to record will stay in memory on both hard drives.Digital camera Review: Excellent buy. I bought this DVR Expander to go with my new TIVO Premiere unit. It was cheaper than getting it from TiVo. It was very easy to set it up and super quiet. I forgot it it there some time. Now I don't have to worry about the TiVo unit filling up.
