Bought this as an off-site back-up hard drive in case of hurricane, flood, or other terrible calamity. Have a iMac so needless to say the back-up process is easy with the built-in Time Machine function. Just hook up the hard drive, designate it as the back-up device, do the back-up, disconnect and put in my briefcase to take to work in a safe place. Worth the price to have piece of mind that in the event of a catastrophe, I can purchase a brand new iMac and then replicate all that I had on my old computer onto the new! Such a small, elegant form factor. I plugged it into my PC & Windows recognized it right away. Seeing that there are a lot of system files & folders shown. I created a folder called HD & stored all personal files there. Then I carried my Passport Drive over to my Mac & I was up & running just as quick. It's almost as portable as a Flash Drive & has boat loads more room. An excellent buy.
I just wish they made a My Passport this same size with 500GB & just as reliable!
